Doing a trial day is totally up to you. I mean you're sending here there regardless of if she cries at drop off or not KWIM? If you want to use a trial day to get last minute stuff at home or run errands then go for it but an extra day at DC isn't going to magically make her adjust instantly. Either way works.
ETA: As far as daycare goes, we did A's first day the day before mine. DH took the day off, I cried a bit at drop off, we went to lunch, had drinks, and saw a movie. It was perfect & by the next day we had no issues. But she was 3 months old so the transition was for me, not her.

At both of the daycares we've been too, we've done a short (1-2 hour) visit the week before. They didn't really offer a trial drop off day without paying for it. I think it was good for DS to at least meet the teachers and see his room so it was at least somewhat familiar when we dropped him off.
