To get a fit but if some sort? I have a ton of Amazon gift cards and I need to lose weight. I already have a garmin 910 xt. I can hear my husband already: do you really need another watch??
I used mine for a few months then handed it off to my sister. It only motivated me for a second because I feel that I'm already pretty active and then I got a running watch that counts steps so I really didn't need it anymore.
I have the fitbit one, that I clip onto my waistband. I've been obsessed with it, and combined with MFP it helped me lose weight. I use an HRM when I exericise, but I still like to have the fitbit for day to day step counting. It's not much more than a fancy pedometer but I love mine.
I also only used mine for a few months. I liked the step challenges with friends, but I soon upgraded to a much more accurate Apple watch. I was still using my Polar FT40 when I was working out because the HR read out sucked on my fitbit.

I've had a couple different activity trackers (Bodymedia Fit & Jawbone Up) over the years and appreciated the info they provided. If you like geeking out over Garmin data after a run, it'll be right up your alley.
But after a couple weeks you learn your activity patterns, and the novelty wears off. That being said, I still break one out from time to time to quantify my activity and make sure I'm staying on track.
I think I paid about $35 for my Jawbone Up on Amazon last year, since they were rolling out newer models. If you're not set on having the latest and greatest, you can find some good deals.
I have a zip that I love, I keep it in my pocket or clipped to my bra. I've had it for a couple years and still like it, it's nothing earth shattering but helps on work at home days to take an extra walk. The $60ish was with it to me!
I had two of the kind that fit in your pocket (the One). I found that when I wore the fitbit I did make a point of walking a little bit more. I would pick lunch joints a little further away, do more errands that involved walking, get off the bus stop a little bit earlier. I lost the One twice, so I would get the flex or something else that goes on your arm, even if it's less accurate.
I love my fitbit. I started with a flex and then upgraded to a charge hr. I use it daily, I track ask my food/water in the app. I'm obsessed with the sleep tracking. I love the alarm.
