I have no motivation to work today. Don't get me wrong, I'm getting stuff done, but my mind is back at home on the couch with a good book, a warm blanket, and a cup of tea.
I'm feeling grinch-y this year. After all of our talk of decorating and whatnot, apparently we've decided to completely ignore Christmas. No tree, no lights, no presents, no plans, no activities... Nothing. I've been struggling a lot with an overwhelming sadness, and I don't know that it's directly related to ignoring my favorite holiday, but that definitely isn't helping.
I'm also feeling grinchy. Though I put up the tree, I have no interest in going out anywhere, especially since I said I was hosting this year and neither side is "giving up" hosting. So regretfully, I have to go out both days, but am stating point blankly that next year if anyone wants to see us they will be coming to us.

katespade - I'm sorry you are feeling down. Are you off tomorrow? Could you suggest to your H that you guys do stockings for each other? You could go to Target with $10 or $20 each and pick out a few small things for each other. Then go home and have some hot cocoa and watch a holiday movie.
katespade it isn't too late to change your plans! Quick tell your H you're sad about skipping Christmas and you'd like to plan something festive for a date night tomorrow. I hope you cheer up soon.
grover I can hardly blame you for not being into Christmas this year. Life aside, the weather is simply dismal. Pouring rain and warmth is hardly cheerful. Can't believe this is DEC 23!

I work a full day tomorrow, unfortunately. H doesn't like holiday movies, so those are out, and he was supposed to get wood so we could build a fire but he hasn't and I doubt he will. I've reminded him about everything we've discussed enough times that I'm over it at this point.
amaranth - It's not a lack of communication in my part, it's a lack of follow-through. Honestly, I'm too tired to try to change it at this point. It is what it is, and maybe once the holidays are over I'll be able to work through some of my non-holiday related sadness.

We are having an ugly Christmas sweater contest at work today. But it is 60 degrees outside and the heat in the building is still on...I will put mine on for the contest only. I don't want to turn into a puddle.
Also add me to the grinch pile. We have a tree up but can't turn it on because of the terrible electrical system in our rental house. I am just over Christmas and would like the 3 day weekend to sleep in and catch up on trashy tv shows, not travel over the entire state for parties.

I'm drinking a beer at my desk. (Hey before you judge there was some in the office fridge) We're technically closed. I'm just finishing up a few things here before I go home and bake cookies with dd. I have already made one batch. I'm All set for Christmas. Shopping done, presents wrapped. Just a little bit of last minute clean up. Then we're finished. Yes awick14 the Sun block is all cleaned up. it's not funny .

((Hugs)) katespade. Hope you and your DH can figure out something to do to make it a little special. We didn't decorate either because of the house being listed and making it look more cluttered etc. I miss having our tree up! Oh well...next year.
grover- ((hugs)) sorry you are having to travel host. I hope your families come to you next year. We are hosting but only ILs are showing up which is a bummer for me. It's nice they are making the effort though. Hope you and your DH get through this week ok. You are in my thoughts and prayers for a much better 2016!
Why did I think it was a good idea to go to bevel, target, and the grocery store in my 2 hrs between naps!?! So many people and so stressful. Couldn't even use my target bc so now I have to go back next week. Got C's and DH's stockings done and grocery shopping! Nap time and the dinner/chores before bedtime. This week needs to slow down...We have been going 100 mph since last Monday.
Oh, we had 2 showings while gone and both liked it. Hoping we get an offer soon! Ready to move and now would be a good time!
I have so much to do and no time to do it. H doesn't understand why I am stressing out. Tomorrow I have to be up early, do housework, make food for work, drop it off at work, pick up a gelato pie we ordered, make ribs, and get everything ready for Friday. Then I have to get all dolled up for a Christmas Eve party at 6pm. He also wants me to find time to help him finish Christmas shopping that he could of done yesterday or today since he has been home. I foresee lots of wine over the next 2 days.
katespade Hugs. I'm sorry you're feeling down . I hope that you and your H find a way to make the next few days special together. H and I are keeping things really simple this year too, and I actually find it a relief not to go through all the hoopla. Sometimes that can be fun, but there is something nice in simplicity too. I like the PP's suggestions of watching a movie with some hot chocolate. Sometimes driving around to look at Christmas lights is enough to put me in a good mood.
grover- every year I think that ok when we have kids we will tell everyone they have to come to us. But every year Christmas comes and we don't have kids so I don't tell people this. If I did say this it probably wouldn't go over well with the ILs.
Add me also to the grinch group. I was in between night shifts so I didn't sign on, on Wednesday. It's not 1 am here and I'm working. After I get off at 8am I will be having a nap then getting ready for Christmas stuff.

My huge long second post got eaten by proboards yesterday. But I gave MIL notice in JUNE. her response: "How will we get all the presents to your house?" Dude has a mini van. We have a teeny tiny car that won't fit both dogs and carry presents home. So now I have to leave the dogs home tomorrow since she is ignoring/"forgot " my request.
I ended up going to the store during my lunch yesterday and buying a little four feet tall fake tree, which we decorated last night. Then we curled up on the couch and watched Home Alone.
