How do I clean my carpet? While Jojo was sick she pretty much vomited all over the carpet and then sprayed it with bowel liquid for good measure.
How do I get the smell to go away?! It just permanently smells like ick in here.
I have tried baking soda and vinegar. I have tried spray on oder remover. My parents own a bissell and I thought maybe that might help? Does anyone have experience with that actually working or am I just going to have a perma musty smell vomit smell?
Also, how do those with pets have houses that don't smell that way? Tell me your secrets! ( one of which I am sure is to not fit 2 people and 3 animals in a small ass space but...)
Tell me more about natures miracle and this oxy clean. Do I sprinkle the oxy powder? Do I mix and put in a spray bottle? Do I saturate with both products?
I never used natures miracle on vomit, though I'm sure it works. It neutralizes enzymes and is really good for eliminating urine odors. We used it with our old chihuahua and it worked well.
For stains that are tenacious and have lingered this long, I would probably hire a professional :/ if you are on Angie's list, there have some good deals for carpet cleaning, probably for less than what it would cost to rent a carpet cleaner for a day.
I use Nature's Miracle, and I have the little green Bissell vac. Sometimes it takes a couple times going over the area, but it does eventually come out. I also swear by this stuff
Thanks for the suggestions! I might buy a jug of nature's miracle floor shampoo stuff and use the bissell and then set up fans and a dehumidifier.
Jojo is doing marvelous! She is gaining weight and loving her dog food. This is the dog who used to never eat. For the last FIVE years she was always very picky. Now she would gorge herself if we let her. and I never thought I would be asking my husband, multiple times a day, "so how was her poop? No, the texture. Okay but was it fat? Thin? Tell meee!" Lol
Our dog bars periodically. We clean up with wipes or paper towels, then spray with nature's miracle. Let it sit for a few minutes then blot (not rub) with a Clean towel.

So glad to hear she's doing well! It must be such a relief for you. I can't imagine the stress you've been under with a sick doggy.
This works miracles. I use a pet formula & sometimes spray the spots with vinegar if it's really bad.
I don't usually post on this board, but I have a puker. We have the above carpet cleaner and it works really well! I don't believe we use the pet formula, so the regular formula works well enough. It gets the stains out and we don't notice a doggy smell of any kind in our house (we are very conscious of this and I have a sensitive nose that smells everything).
For a big mess that has been sitting a while, I would rent a carpet cleaner. Maybe borrow the bissel, but the big carpet cleaners work better. I second the oxy clean rec for little stains. I mix with water then spray on.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you do to get her to start eating regularly? My dog will go a whole day or more without eating and then that's when he'll throw up. Vet told us to try grain free food and that helped with the puking (still pukes, but not as often as he used to), but he still will go a long time without eating. Vet can't find anything wrong with him and the food he's on now seems to agree with him otherwise. Vet even has us try pepcid and that didn't help.
The first few months we lived in our new TH (that we bought) that had brand new carpet in it, my cat barfed multiple times in every carpeted area. We used windex and dabbed with paper towel. It has seemed to work. Pretty sure my house doesn't smell like puke. *shrug*

I'm glad your pup is doing well.
I know you didn't ask me, lol, but have you tried adding a little pumpkin to his food?

Peroxide, baking soda and vinegar are my go to for pet stains on carpet. I start by sprinkling on baking soda, then pour on the vinegar and let it all bubble. Then whip up. Then I move to peroxide to get out any staining. It works like a charm without bleaching the carpet or leaving lingering smells.

I have a dog that pees. A lot. He's old. I used to use Nature's Miracle, but I used it for so long that the smell of the stuff started to remind me of pee. This stuff goes on sale for $4 every once and a while so I took a chance. It's SO GOOD. The bottle is really big. You can get a lot out of it because it's aerosol. It also dries remarkably fast. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002KKIXC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01

I've taken up all my rugs so I don't have to deal with it anymore, but use a product that says "enzymatic" on it. Nature's Miracle is what I usually use. I still need it for the grout in my rooms with tile (baths and kitchen) but the rest of my house is hardwood sealed with epoxy, which cleans up crazy easy.

I know you didn't ask me, lol, but have you tried adding a little pumpkin to his food?
I've only given him pumpkin when he's had poop issues. He usually just eats that kind of stuff off the top of his food and spits out his actual food onto the floor if he happens to get a piece stuck to the good stuff. He's not a food hound at all. He's a weird little dog! I may try the pumpkin anyway to see if it makes him more interested in his food. Thanks for the suggestion!
