Steaks! We really like this recipe, but will do inside on the grill pan: allrecipes.com/recipe/14554/sirloin-steak-with-garlic-butter/ Still deciding on sides, so I'm hoping for help from this thread ETA: sorry on app; thought this was ML, but I'm steal stealing ideas!
I probably shouldn't be answering this, but we just do favorite heavy hors d'oeuvres on NYE. Tonight we have mini quiche, a cheese and fruit spread, grilled pineapple, shrimp, apricot/chili meatballs, tomato/brie tarte, and some other pastry-based apps, plus some basic veggies and dip.

Last year we did steak. I had a fussy kid, our friend's daughter threw up mid dinner. This year we are having whatever and getting together later in the evening.
Probably bacon wrapped filets. I'm going to Whole Foods after the gym this morning to grab a fancy cake. I may change my mind on the entree once I see what they have to offer.
Every year I go to Whole Foods and pick an assortment of nice sausages, prosciutto, cheese, pate, and a baguette and some kerrygold. We make some bearnaise sauce to dip the sausage in and it's awesome. And easy, which is nice because we wait until the kids are in bed, and who wants to start cooking a fancy meal at 8:30? Lol

we're doing this too. I went to Trader Joe's yesterday and grabbed some things
coconut shrimp mushroom turnovers crostini with marscapone cheese, fig jam and proscuitto brie with apricot jam something else I have already forgotten
Trader Joes stuffed chicken breasts. My husband likes to bake these on "special" days. I'm going to make their cornbread stuff with corn and sausage. He likes the corn and sausage in there. DD will eat none of this. We will do appetizers first. DD loves the TJ's chicken samosas so that will be her meal with some rice or pasta. Nothing really fancy about this meal, but this is the extent of fancy in our house right now.
My H is on call. Therefore, Caramini and I will go to Whole Foods when I pick her up and I will buy delicious sushi and macarons for us and drink champagne when she goes to sleep.
Traditionally, I do poultry (duck, cornish game hens, proscuitto wrapped stuffed chicken breasts, etc.) on NYE and pork on NYD (some old wives' tale about chickens looking backward when they peck the ground and pigs looking forward).

We are doing the most unhealthy kiddish appetizers. Pizza rolls, mozzarella sticks, spinach/artichoke dip, boneless buffalo chicken bites. And apple crisp for dessert.
I feel kind of bad I am not doing a big, fancy dinner but eh, I just want to make it easy and watch a movie.
