I do not mind any of the aforementioned tasks. But getting that shit into the wash, dried and back in place on the bed or in the closet is another story.
God, I hate putting the bed back together after washing the bedding. First the mattress cover, then the stupid fitted sheet that always flips up on one corner. The duvet cover is forever flipped inside out, so then there's that before stuffing the stupid thing inside and shaking it. Just when you think you're done, there's the pillows.
Just yesterday DH and I were putting the duvet cover back on and I was telling him I was going to invent one (if it doesn't already exist) that opens like a book. Then you can just lay the comforter down and snap/tie/zip it up.
That would be replacing the bed skirt, Bob. I've had one in a laundry basket for months. I tried to be cheap but I think I'll just buy a whole new bed frame instead. That's how much I hate it.
This is why we have slept with only the duvet cover over our sheets for the last year. The duvet finally got folded up and stuffed in a closet when I came to the conclusion that I was highly unlikely to bother putting the cover back on it.
Have you seen those youtube videos that show how to do it in like 0.05 seconds? FUCK YOU YOUTUBE JERKS, IT DOESN'T WORK, AND THEN I FEEL INCOMPETENT ON TOP OF IT ALL.
Do you do the thing where you lie the duvet cover inside out on top of the comforter and tie the ends together, then flip it right-side-in? I find that slightly less terrible.
Yes!! This makes it a million times easier. You place the duvet on top of the comforter inside-out, upside-down, but right side-up. Each person takes a hand, puts it inside the duvet and grabs one of the bottom corners of the comforter. Then pull the duvet+comforter corner up to the top of the bed. The comforter places itself inside the duvet as you're turning the duvet from inside-out to right side-out.
This explanation probably makes no sense but I bet there's a YouTube video. It's easiest with two people but not a big deal to do it alone.
This ruins my life every week. I hate putting the bed back together with a duvet and cover. And yet, I keep buying them. I just bought a new duvet cover for M's new room. I must hate myself.

I don't know, cleaning the ceiling fan above the bed ranks pretty high up there with shitty household chores because it fucks up everything else in the room.
