Do you think I'll get these back?

DH bought me a beautiful pair of diamond stud earrings for Christmas a few years ago.  I used to wear them everyday, but then had a scare when one of them fell out and I thought I lost it (I found it).  So now I only wear them on special occasions.  So I went to put them in for a Christmas party a few weeks ago and they were gone.  I always keep them in my jewelry box and they were definitely not in there.  I sort of assumed that DH maybe took them to have them reset on screw backs like I had been asking, and maybe that would be my Christmas present.  Nope.  Nothing.  So, now, I am in full on panic trying to track them down.  After having torn apart my room, my jewelry drawer, all cosmetic bags, purses, evening bags, and even my car (all on the down low so DH doesn't know they are missing), I went through old pictures to try and remember when I had them last.  I think the last time I wore them was in June, to a dinner auction.  I have a very clear memory of taking them off in the hotel, but we left in a hurry in the morning because one of the kids had gotten sick back at home.  I have a sinking feeling that I missed them.  I called the hotel, and they only hold on to lost and found for a month, so I sent an email asking them to please ask around just to see if anyone remembers seeing them and know what might have happened to them.  But I am just sick to my stomach that they might really be gone.  And I reeeeeaaally don't want to tell DH.  Uuuuuugh.  Send good earring returning vibes, please?

Oh man, I'm so sorry and I am crossing fingers that they turn up! Did you check your luggage/makeup bag/jewelry bag you might have used when you stayed at the hotel? Perhaps you left them in a bag of a zippered compartment inside a bag? Ahhh good luck!!!

I checked every makeup bag I have ever used.  And every corner of the bag we took.  No sign of them.

DH bought me a gorgeous swarovski crystal bracelet on our honeymoon. I wore it when we stayed in a hotel overnight for our anniversary once and thought I had left it there but it never turned up. A YEAR later we pulled out our suitcases to pack for a trip and guess what I found?

So maybe go through all your luggage again??

My only other thought is to tell your DH and maybe he really is having them reset. Might ruin a surprise, but peace of mind for you!

I thought about this because I have caught DD in my jewelry box before. And just today she swiped a new necklace off my dresser. She swears she didn't take my earrings, but I am searching her room top to bottom this week when she goes back to school. She also likes to take my evening bags and play with those, so there's a small possibility I took them off after some event, slipped them in there, and then they fell out somewhere in the house while she was playing with it.

At this point, I would seriously bawl my eyes out if they appeared before me. Re-searching all bags is definitely on the list.

H gave me a charm for my bracelet a few Christmases ago. I lost it at some point, tore apart everything and was so upset but accepted it was gone.
9 months later, I had my car detailed twice before trading it in. I am in the parking lot of the dealership when I'm getting my last things out and I glanced down to see the charm between my seats. I seriously cried.

We also found H's wedding ring after missing 4 months in the bottom of DS's underwear drawer. It's where he keeps his treasures.

Similar thing happened to me. I had a ring that I thought I lost, but it just fell into the top drawer of my dresser and got pushed to the back. Only when I cleaned it out did I find it way back there. Hope you find your earrings!
