I noticed while at my friends house that they have a microwave "nook" but don't have one. When I asked her about it she said it wasn't on the list of priorities. It just got me wondering if it's common to not have one.

We have one but don't use it often. When our old house was for sale, the stager had us put our microwave away, and we didn't miss it at all. I don't cook much at all, but when I do want to heat or reheat things, I prefer the stove and oven.
I have one but don't really use it. I use the toaster oven a lot. I usually reheat leftovers and things like that on the stove.
For people that use the stove, does it taste better to you? It always takes much longer when I use the stove and I don't really notice a difference. I also have a toaster oven for crispy things but for casseroles, soups, stews, etc. I use the microwave. Would hate to live without one.
Not on the list of priorities? What does that even mean?
I have 2 kids, of course I have a microwave.
They just bought a house and are stretched thin so it makes sense. H thinks we should buy her one for her birthday tomorrow lol. He really thinks that the lack of microwave is the worst thing ever!

I feel like it heats more evenly and doesn't take much more time than microwaving it. I think soups and stews are easier to reheat on the stovetop, especially if it's for the whole family. Easier than a bunch of bowls in the microwave. I'm trying to think of what I use the microwave for and I can't think of anything, lol.
I don't trust self professed health nuts who dont do either. And if they're not insane health nuts, what else are they using as an excuse?
I lived with a nutter who wouldn't use my pots or utensils. Her dad visited (for a week! With mom!) And complained about a cold hand from self tai chi. Plus lots of homeopathic "meds".
I know crazy. They still used the microwave.
If you say la is worse I'm not looking forward to the next couple years. Sigh.

It taste better to me when I reheat with the stove/oven. I can really tell the difference with meat. Especially, beef. I like that the oven keeps things crispy. Microwave always leaves things soggy to me. I really dislike when I have vegetables steamed in an microwave. I feel there is a loss of flavor and the texture is off.
The only thing I would put in the microwave is butter or a bag of popcorn. Even than I could easily manage without it. I prefer stove/air popped popcorn now.
Tiny kitchen & no extra space, so no microwave. I do my own waxing and have to heat the wax up in a pot instead of the microwave, that's pretty much the only time it's a pain in the ass to not have one. Leftovers get reheated in the oven.
We fitted a new kitchen last year and did include a microwave but I've only used it once or twice so far but that's mostly because I tend to take leftovers to work and use that microwave to reheat stuff.

I have one but its in the garage. My kitchen isn't tiny but my counter space is valuable real estate. I would rather have my KA mixer handy. I really don't miss it, except for microwave popcorn.

We got rid of ours two years ago.
I've missed it exactly twice. Once, when I wanted to try EVOL brand street tacos and they were microwave only and once when I bought the TGIFriday's brand spinach artichoke dip and it was microwave only. LOL.

I assume Laz calling her microwave a "big beautiful" is a typo. Lol
We have one over the stove/oven. We use it a lot or defrost frozen veggies and reheat leftovers quickly. We could get by without it if we needed to, though.
If I didn't have a microwave, how would I heat left over pad Thai? I can't even imagine how that would work in an oven. I honestly could get by without on at our real house, b/c we have hot water on tap, but I use it all the time at our cabin to make coffee (French Press, not instant), hot chocolate, tea, etc. I'm actually not sure what I use it for at home besides pad Thai. But, that's a pretty big reason to need one.
