Hard Inquiries on Credit score

I am a little confused and hoping you can help. I bought a car last year but shopped around for rates and I know my credit would be checked every time I shopped for a rate. But I thought if it was checked many times during a 2 week period it wouldn't affect my score. I have 6 hard inquiries on my credit report but they were all done within a week? Why is it showing up as 6 shouldn't it be just one?

I think it's that they only count as one inquiry in the credit score, but they'll all show up on your report so you still know who was looking at your credit. www.experian.com/credit-advice/topic-inquiries.html
