I am also trying to reign in my grocery spending. I only spent $90 this week for my family of 3 which is much better than my usual $150. But time will tell if I forgot everything and have to go back. Last night I noticed that we don't have many snack foods this week. I know that convenience foods are $$ so I made chocolate chocolate chip cookies from ingredients I already had and we have some chips left from last week. I don't want to go over budget next week trying to replenish the snacks, cokes, etc. So it got me wondering...what do you ladies snack on?? Or do you snack at all?

We do WW so we try to do most of our snacking on fruits and vegetables. We also keep rice cakes, popcorn, and nuts on hand for when you need some crunchy.
We snack on cheese (the one thing I stock up on if it's on sale), raw veggies with hummus, tzatziki or ranch (all three of which I make myself), nuts, fruit if its in season and things that I make myself like crackers, muffins, scones, etc.

I buy a box of crackers and split it into individual bags (approx 100-150 cals each). I can get like, 15 servings from a $3 box of cheez-its instead of 5 servings of 100 cal packs.
We also eat a lot of fruit - whatever is in season, and popcorn.
Typically, popcorn, not microwave, it's like $2.00 for a bag and will last for at least a month. Right now, I've been making salsa from my garden and having chips and salsa. DH isn't a big snacker, but sometimes he will eat ritz crackers or doritos. I stock up when they are on sale.
DS is still a toddler, so for snacks for him, we usually buy a big pack of individually wrapped cheese sticks, and stock up on fruit snacks and nutrigrain bars when they are on sale.
We only keep soda in the house if it's on sale for a super good deal, like $4 for $10. Most of the time I make iced tea or just drink water, sometimes DH likes kool-aid, so we usually keep that around.
DH is a huge snacker! We always have chips, fruit, and string cheese. I will also buy crackers and cheese on occasion. We don't drink soda, but DH likes lemonade and always have that.
We buy one traditional "snack" food per week, like a bag of chips or crackers, ice cream, etc. When it's gone, it's gone though. Typical snacks are fruit, veggies with hummus, yogurt, smoothies, cheese, nuts or a bowl of cereal.
My H is a huge snacker, he loves Aldi chips and trail mix and pistachios.
I usually have on hand string cheese or the little Babybel cheeses, Trader Joe's fig bars, Kind bars, trail mix and dried fruit. Also baby carrots and hummus.
I buy tortilla chips and salsa, string cheese, apples and bananas (we eat them w/ peanut butter). Sometimes I'll make guacamole. For sweets, I'll buy some ice cream, or cookies (or I'll make cookies), but I try not to that often. Usually for a treat I'll have a small handful of walnuts with chocolate chips, or dark chocolate with peanut butter (yum). I usually make a batch of vegan biscuits, or have an english muffin if I'm feeling snacky at home.
I'm trying to lose a little weight so my snacks are few and far between these days, but when I was taking an afternoon snack to work and felt like I really needed a little something between lunch and dinner, it was string cheese. Mmm! If he's actually hungry, DH snacks on Greek yogurt, string cheese, carrots and hummus, apples and pb, granola/protein bars and fresh fruit. We keep sugar free popsicles and fudgsicles on hand most of the time, too. They aren't filling, but they do the trick when we're not really hungry but just have that urge to snack on something. If we host poker, we might have chips or Tostitos on hand, and DH will gobble those up with hummus or salsa; but I tend not to buy them if we're not having friends over. We aim for snacks with protein so they'll be more filling. For the same reason, my mom buys my dad mixed nuts. I'd keep them on hand, but I would find it difficult not to dig into the whole can or jar more often than not. Portion control is not a strength of mine.
