quesyrah - I can't find the post, but I remember you mentioned your pedi saying that it takes 21 days to change a behavior. I just wanted to say that I've been using that as my mantra lately! So thank you!
While DH was on holidays, we moved DD into a bed so we could start having some good bedtime routines with her (reading in bed and having her fall asleep in the bed, not on me or DH). The start was so awful that I wanted to give up, but I remembered the magical 21 days. I actually made myself a chart to track how she does, and it's been so encouraging! We're on day 14, but I can see a change over the long term. If I hadn't been expecting it to be a long process, I think I would have been super discouraged on day 5.
Just wanted to share that and say thanks! I'm going to remember it any time I'm trying to get my kids to adapt to something.
Yes it was me! I'm so glad you are seeing improvement.
When we started DS made sure we gave him every check mark and the first thing he asked for in the morning was his sticker. I would say about 2 weeks in he was so used to staying in his own bed that he totally forgot that he was getting rewarded for it.
And I totally know how you feel. I told the pedi "but I've been working on it all week!" And she just laughed and told me I need to give it much longer.
The first few nights were ROUGH. We had hour long tantrums at 3 in the morning and some days he carried on so long that he never went back to sleep.
