I kind of love Shake 'n' Bake - it's one of those things I get a craving for every few years. Last time we had it, we marinated everything in BBQ sauce first, then coated it, then baked. So yummy!
I just do a "traditional" dinner when I make it. Serve with big side of steamed broccoli, maybe a small baked potato.
Raises hands to say this is the only way I would eat chicken and/or pork chops when I was little. My mom was all about easy. Really all it is bread crumbs with seasoning.
Check out tightwad gazette books. She has some homemade shake and bake (basically bread crumbs - which you can make your own) and different seasonings. Also, good recipes for velveeta and my house favorite = whoopie pies )
:-| You are crazy. I occasionally will have a box of stovetop stuffing for dinner when FI is out of town. It's the only way I can guarantee that I get more than 5 bites. I love that crap!
Shake and bake was a staple in my childhood. It always smells weird but it doesn't come out tasting like that.
I never liked the chicken variety, but the pork variety on porkchops is good. Salty, but good. I don't really like pork but shake and bake porkchops would be my preferred method.
Confession: I love Stove Top Stuffing. LOVE. When I was little I asked for it for my birthday dinners - just Stove Top, nothing else. I cannot allow myself to buy it because I will eat it all in one sitting, no mattEr how much there is.
