Whose words are on the pages you're turning this week?
QOTW: Following from the book boyfriend post, do you have a book best friend -- the kind of character you're positive would just get along with and love to hang out with, and you know wouldn't mind babysitting your kids for you to have a night out?
I am reading "George" but it is a quick read (very short)
I am driving 10 hours tomorrow and trying to find a good audio book on Hoopla to listen to! I think I may go with a trashy read, Blurred Lines by Lauren Layne
Hmmmm, i need to think about a book friend. HOnestly, i read a lot of psychological thrillers and have NO interest in being roomies with any of those ladies

I'm between books right now. I read Go Ask Alice and Room this week. I need a light and fluffy book before I dive into Outlander. I'm open to suggestions.
I'm listening to The Red Tent by Anita Diamant and just finished The Taming of the Queen by Phillipa Gregory last night. It was quite interesting to read about Kateryn Parr surviving with her head still on as Henry VIII's last wife.
I have Go Set a Watchman on my Kindle from the library so will start that next.
QOTW: I think I'd get along really well with Hermione Granger.
Marie Antoinette by Antonia Fraser, based on 2curlydogs recommendation (and the fact that I already had it on my kindle).
QOTD: Laura Ingalls, maybe? I don't really have a book BFF, but Laura is the only one I've held imaginary conversations with - when I was a kid, I swear!!
I'm finishing The Gilded Hour by Sara Donati (she wrote the Into the Wilderness series and this book takes place with the descendants of the characters from that series.)
I'm enjoying it quite a bit. It takes place in the late 1800s about 20-25 years after the Civil War. Anthony Comstock is in full force trying to enforce the Comstock Laws which prohibit obscene materials being sent through the mail system. It also prohibited the dissemination of obscene material which included information on contraception and abortion. The two main characters are two women doctors. The characters have great depth and quite interesting. It's a good book so far.
QOTW: A book BFF? I don't know. I'd like to think that I identify with heroines like Clare Frasher, Katniss Everdeen, Mercedes Thompson, Kate Daniels but they're all pretty much loners.
I just finished a book I didn't much like (In Bitter Chill) and I'm not sure what I'm starting next. Options are Undermajordomo Minor by Patrick DeWitt, To Fetch a Thief by Spencer Quinn, The Cape Ann by Faith Sullivan, and some nonfiction books. I'll see which one sticks when I sit down this evening.
Book BFF: I would enjoy hanging out with a lot of the Three Pines people from Louise Penny's books.
I'm reading Hell's Corner by David Baldacci. I had to give up on Alice I Have Been. A slow book is not a good way to start the year. This one is an easy read.
Can't think of a current day grown up friend, but I would have enjoyed hanging out with Nancy Drew. ETA: the strong and magical ladies that Sarah Addison Allen writes make me want to meet them and spend time over a lovely meal.
I'm loving both my current reads: On audio, The Residence by Kate Brower. I love learning about the details of running the White House from the perspective of its workers.
Reading Marathon Woman by Katherine Switzer, the first woman to run the Boston Marathon and a pioneer in women's running. I cannot believe there was a time when women were not "allowed" to run a full mile since it was considered medically dangerous.
My book bff as an adult would be Jen Lancaster. I would love to go out for drinks with her. As a kid it would be young Laura Ingalls hands down.
I am reading The Goldfinch and really like it. It is long and is taking a while, but that is more due to a busy schedule! I seem to remember being able to read faster and get through more books.
QOTW: this is hard! At this moment (maybe because a I read a book with her around Christmas) I would pick Regan Reilly (lead character in Carol Higgins Clark mysteries). She seems level headed, kind, and fun. Though a lot of people do die or get kidnapped around her!

I LOVED the Goldfinch!! It has surprises in it that I never saw coming. I think it is a great read.

I'm listening to As You Wish by Cary Elwes in the car. I'm going to have to watch The Princess Bride again when I finish. (SUCH a terrible fate, ha.). I also just started a re-read of I Capture the Castle, because it's been too long. Which means I will probably do a re-read of The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets next, because the two go hand-in-hand.
QOTW: well, Cassandra Mortman from ICTC. And maybe the Walsh sisters from the Marian Keyes books. Claire or Anna if forced to choose, but I would like all of them for different reasons, and would rotate them in or out depending on my mood/what I needed most.

I'm reading Cat's Claw, a China Bayles mystery by Susan Wittig Albert. I'm enjoying it, but finding it hard to settle down for any length of time with it.
QOTW: Anne Shirley Blythe would for sure be a BFF. I think she'd be a great BFF and the character I turn to most when I need a visit with a good friend.

QOTW: That's a tough one. I need to think on it.
I just listened to Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella and it fit the bill for a lighter/fluffy-ish read. I really enjoyed it!

This sounds really interesting! Thanks.
I am a runner, but honestly I think this book holds appeal for anyone interested in history, sports, or both. It's an easy read, and I am enjoying learning the backstory not only of her, but of women's history, rights, and sports in general, including gym class and school teams. I guess I took it for granted in high school that I could play basketball without having modified rules because they were afraid the jumping would cause my female parts to fall out- crazy!
