But I completed my first half marathon this weekend!
I'm at Disneyland for RunDisney's Star Wars half marathon. My husband and I signed up for the Rebel Challenge. We completed a 10k yesterday and a half marathon today.
I finished the 10k in 1:25 and the half in 2:39. There were lots of photo ops and character meets on the course, so my times look pretty bad. I knew these two races would be more about fun than times going into it though, at least for us.
Yeah...as much as I love you girls and love Charleston, a Disney race is the tops. Perhaps our next gtg needs to be a Disney race gtg?
As much as I have zero desire to do a Disney race, I would be in if it was World. Mostly because H&Fers are totally worth it, and the GTG part tops any race.

Okay, a more detailed recap now that I'm home.
10k day- We woke up at 3:30 and left our hotel at 4:00 to walk over to Disneyland Hotel. We were in corral B by 5:00. I'm glad I bought a mylar blanket. It was a smidge chilly that morning. Corral A left at 5:30, and then we were around five minutes later. We were at the front of corral B. My husband had injured himself so we kept things between 10-10:30 pacewise. The course was fantastic and pretty much contained to Disneyland and California Adventures and their backstage areas. Not crowded at all for us. We had minimal bobbing and weaving to do. I've had more crowded races locally. I felt fantastic all through the 10k. It was perfect.
Half marathon day- Same deal with wakeup time and being in the corrals and all that jazz. I was at the front of corral B. My husband was a bit concerned about his knee and needing more time, so he opted to stick with his placement in A. He planned to stick with the same pace as the day before. I had trained at 9:00ish, so I thought I'd be able to catch up to him on the course.
And then my plans changed. By mile 1, I had some pretty awful stomach cramps. I was SO glad we were in the parks to start with, because I'm pretty sure I hit every bathroom I passed. It was terrible. By mile 3, one of my calves had cramped up pretty badly. If this had been a run at home, I would have called it quits. Obviously not an option, so I kept talking to myself. "Make it to the 5k point. Okay, now 10k. You did it yesterday, do it again. Alright, make it to the 10 mile marker. You've run 10 before and felt great. After that, it's just a 5k."
I ran at a 10- 10:30 pace up until mile 10, and then I did :30/:30 intervals til mile 13. Once I hit 13, I started running again. I just wanted to finish strong. A little bummed that my first half was miserable, but I finished. I never did catch up with my husband, but I wasn't too far behind. He finished 9 minutes ahead of me.
The last one is because I felt more like a beast than a beauty when I finished!
