iammalcolmx, can you tag everyone please? I can't figure out how to do it without doing it manually.
Luvvie and Janet 2.0 are killing me here. I generally don't give a shit about the Oscars, but I did think it was a bit much for Jada to be quiet about all the other shit going on in the world, and then blow her top about this.
I was just watching this and wondering if it was being discussed here. Aunt Viv went IN. And while she made some good points, I'm still kinda embarrassed for her.

While I cringe for the original Aunt Viv, I don't buy the horror of the Smiths at all. Do they just feel Will was slighted or do they actually get the Oscarssowhite overall message.

I do think it is funny that this is what they ask people to take a stand on. I had no idea that they have a production company. That is shameful. As much shit as Tyler Perry gets, he has put people to work and I do love that about him.
I agreed with Aunt Viv on Will's accent being bad, but that was about it. Also, Jada is pretty vocal about sex trafficking. So this isn't her only cause. Viv came off so bitter. I hate that whole mentality of you can only care about one cause at a time.
Holy shit! She did go in. I probably won't see Concussion until it's out on DVD so I have no opinion. I hate that while she was telling truths she seemed to bitter. The Fresh Prince stuff was decades ago, it's time to let it go.
Here's the deal with Jada and Will. They think they are better than anyone else. Not that most of Hollywood doesn't feel that way but these two are special. Their kids are special as well.
The movie had a ton of potential if they had hired someone else to do the lead role. Will isn't a great actor. I would have loved to have seen maybe Harry Lennix in the role. Someone other than Will. I was all interested in the movie until I saw that Will was the lead.
Maybe they can go ride around on one of those Scientology boats and spend their time thinking about what went wrong or go help find that missing wife.
Didn't he say hew was the greatest action-movie actor in an article about Jaden Smith too?

Will's a good actor, but he took the benjamins too many times instead of picking better projects. I remember one time he rejected a Tarantino role in order to be in some piece of crap film, I forget which one. I thought he could've gotten into the five for Best Actor except "Concussion" really wasn't an AMPAS type of film. Cranston in "Trumbo" hit instead because it's way baitier, and Hollywood loves watching movies about themselves even if they're not 100% flattering. (The other four nominees---DiCaprio, Fassbender, Redmayne, Damon--- seemed locked in from very early on and not on the bubble.)
The talk on a few awards sites is that the preferential ballot in best picture kept "Compton" out. Voters pick their top five, and a movie only gets in if it gets a certain percentage (I think 3%) of all number one votes. Idris Elba was one of a dozen men vying for best supporting actor and fell short due to lack of support for Beasts of No Nation. Netflix will probably do better next time.
PS. I saw Concussion and from a non-expert's standpoint was not bothered by the accent. I found the story very interesting and not something I had heard a lot about.

Favorite comment from the article:
Jada mad because they hung out with the right Scientology people, kissed all the behinds, drank all the whole milk and still at the end of the day weren’t invited to the Debutante Ball. They have a production company that could have made a world of difference for many black actresses/actors in Hollywood, but they only use it to promote themselves and their…. eccentric children. Black Hollywood knows that if either Will it Jada don’t like you for any reason on their set they will kill your career.
Definitely. I got so tired of Patricia Arquette with her stupid glasses and piece of paper. at all the awards. At least it ends after February 28, 2016 when she gives the Oscar to Sly. (hope)
Oh shit. Not the Benny Medina rumors. You guys. I thought we had a silent pact, as a society, to leave those in the 90s. I just read the bullets. Can the swinger parties and Duane Martin (do you know how I DIED when they brought this up on Real Husbands of Hollywood?) rumors be far behind? This is just not right.
Eta - Oh, dear @ that tweet. Outing is actually really super gross. I would expect Alexis to know that.
Would will and jada boycott if he WAS nominated? They went when he was for Ali and the oscars were WAY whiter back then. I do think the oscars have a race problem, they also tend to love really annoying movies and ignore more contemporary great movies. but the Smiths are obnoxious and they just seem petty given its based on him being snubbed.

I never heard the Benny Medina rumors and honestly the Alexis thing doesn't even register with me. I don't even believe it and don't really care if its true.
