Where does this family live that rent AND utilities for a family of four is only 660?
I wondered this same exact thing. I should move there.
I guess I don't understand the question. Yes, you can live on this if the prices are reasonable for your area? This budget would never work for us because we live near a city.
Before I answer, are these expenses realistic where you live? Is this something your need to do for debt management or are you just asking to set yourselves up well?
Expenses can be realistic, but we are unsure if we want to cut this much. This budget is our one income budget since I am being laid off. We are considering keeping it long term and saving my (hopefully) future income with a small portion going to a housekeeper and trying for relatively early retirement.

I'm wondering more about the spending parts of the budget. As I said, somewhat hypothetical family.

I mean.. I guess. What pet care is $100 a month? Do you need to dine out? $440 seems reasonable for groceries, I guess. This is all just sort of open ended for me. There are places to cut, obviously, is that what you're asking? Or asking if we'd be able to deal with this?
If this is what my income allowed, I guess that I would HAVE to deal with it?

Huh? You make no sense. Why are making a post about a 'somewhat hypothetical' family? Just cut the bs and get down to the facts.

This went from me thinking this family was living in a tiny ass apartment trying to make ends meet to them living in a paid off house with a housekeeper.
$101 per week on groceries seems quite tight for a family of four, at least based on grocery prices in my area. I could probably make it work in the short term by using inexpensive processed foods, but I don't know if it would be sustainable long term.

I thought these costs totaled the income? Anyway, where's my condom budget? Because that is massive. Add my red wine budget, my therapy budget, my JC Penney hot clothing budget, and I'm living in a box.
I think $110 per week for a family of 4 is kinda low, but I guess it depends on how cheap groceries are in your area. I can maybe get away with spending $200 per week, and even then I'm still running to the store for milk and fruit a few times per week.
