We have hurricane days! We've been off school/work since yesterday, and will be through at least tomorrow. The entire city is pretty much shut down. So far, we've just gotten a bit of wind.
It's my first hurricane, so I'm oddly fascinated by it. Of course, the sucker is headed straight for us. Mijo and I are hunkered down, alternately watching movies and hurricane updates.

I'm off till Friday bc of this stupid hurricane. Right now we have some gusty wind but very little rain. I'm so annoyed by all this. I hate sitting at home doing nothing. And I am 100% positive the power will go out and I will be hot miserable stuck at home tomorrow. This isn't my first storm and it's not living up to the hype the crazy news reporters are trying to tell.
Good luck to you and your family. Hopefully you can get some good movie time in before you loose power.
You're in Louisiana right? What part? I went to college in New Orleans (Tulane) and a lot of my family was directly affected by Katrina which was 7 years ago today. So glad this storm doesn't look like it will be as bad and shouldn't impact us here in Memphis. When Katrina hit all the way inland to Memphis it was actually still a Cat 1 hurricane, 6 hours inland!

I'm currently on the north shore in Mandeville but I work in the French Quarter. If only this storm would move on things could get back up and running. But it's not going anywhere.

I work in the service industry near Jackson square. I was really looking forward to a profitable week with decadence but I'm not so sure now. This storm is very similar to storms before Katrina and would have been no big deal if it didn't make landfall 7 yrs to the day of Katrina.
