She pissed me off when she slipped the comment about public school sports be free. There is a reason they are no longer free. The selfishness that has overcome america and the unwillingness to raise property taxes to support schools because I'm not going to pay $100 a year extra in taxes so someone elses kid can play high school soccer/band, etc mentality.
I think my vote will be based more on the ideas that the next President could possibly nominate SCOTUS judges than their politics.
I don't know what I would do if we overturned Roe v. Wade. Even if it became a states rights issues, OMG, it would be a nightmare. I already don't agree with the laws Virginia has passed.
It was painful. She lost me with the gender stereotyping. She seemed clueless and ditzy. She tried to relate to most Americans and failed.
I laughed at the ironing board as a kitchen table comment because my parents also used an ironing board as a kitchen table and joked about it. It didn't mean my parents were poor; they had just moved from a furnished apartment to an unfinished one.
We were poor, people...we ate tuna noodle casserole while mitt was at Harvard and I was getting knocked up.
The "I love you women!" part was really bizarre and I guess the gender stereotyping annoyed me. However, I am guessing she is trying to appeal to a certain demographic that isn't bothered by that kind of thing.
I was half asleep with my eyes closed, but she sounded insincere. I don't believe that she knows what it is like to not be able to get ahead financially, or relate to middle or lower classes. The key to a good speech is to connect with your audience....she had MULTIPLE audiences to hit and she was unsuccessful
That said, I still don't know if I "like" Obama and agree with him enough to vote for him either. It is a hard decision and very frustrating

I didn't realize it until you posted this, but this is exactly how I vote as well. I've never really put that thought into words before but this is exactly how I feel.
Maybe it's the bitter infertile in me but I felt she spent way too much time talking about women as mothers. You raised 5 boys; we get it. Not every woman is a mom, not every mom stays @ home. But I do think she did a good job making her husband look more human. And I loved her dress.
(FWIW I'm a registered R with very Libertarian beliefs who voted for Ron Paul in '08 & '12).

"I LOVE YOU as long as you don't want to make your own decisions!!!!"
Not that it suprises me, but she did not connect with me at all. As PP said, I'm not a mother (never will be), work full time, and my husband doesn't identify me.
"I don't know what I would do if we overturned Roe v. Wade. Even if it became a states rights issues, OMG, it would be a nightmare."
If so, what did you think? I've never been into politics but that speech made my voting decision so so easy. And yes, I'm going to vote primarily based on my feelings of the candidates wives.
I would hope that you base your decisions on the platforms and the candidates opinions on things that matter. The next 4 years could be pivotal in shaping policies and decisions that have long-term impact on our country.
I, for one, thought her speech just solidified her as a privileged, white women in my mind.
I'm waiting for someone on MM to mention something about her horses.
