So I'm ready to get ds a nice backpack and lunch bag since his new daycare won't have the hot lunch/snacks that his place has now.
Anyone have the Mackenzie styles? I'm leaning toward that since it looks like the lunch bags can attach to the back pack.
For those that have this one, did you personalize-I was thinking his name might be good since its solely for daycare?? Also, he's a tall almost 3 year old so I was thinking I would order the small and not pre k size backpack, does that sound right?
Love our PBK lunchbox! We've had other brands and they haven't even made it through a whole year of school. Our PBK one is going on year 2 right now and I think it will be fine for K next year, too.
The backpacks are fine. I chose not personalize either of them. We have the small size and it's perfect for my 5 year old.
DD1 has the Mackenzie backpack in a small, for first grade. She was adamant about not wanting the large b/c she "didn't want it to hang down on my butt!" even though most people said to just get large for grade school. Small works great for her and I think would be good for preK as well if your child is tall. I heard that the preK ones are REALLY tiny. I guess it depends on what you need to carry. They have some little videos online that show what you can pack. I have been very happy with the backpack. It's holding up great so far and still looks new.
We did not get the matching lunchbox, but we can still clip her lunchbox onto the backpack straps if we want to do that. If you know you need both, it would be nice to get the matching set. She does hot lunch most days.
We didn't personalize since it was for first grade.

We love ours! Julia's set is in its third year of use and is starting to look worn, but three years is good for a backpack IMO, especially for how elementary school kids wear things out. We wash both in the regular washing machine and air dry periodically and they come out great.
Emma is in her second backpack, because her favorite color is purple and she's obsessed with cats and my mom saw a purple one with cats and got it even though she had one lol! Her cat one is size small and it's tight for first grade but would be perfect for preschool. I have to kind of bend her folder to get it in and her folder and lunch and snack bags barely fit inside (she likes to put it inside). Her other backpack is waiting for when she realizes she needs a bigger one then the cat will be bumped to sleepover bag or whatever.
We put names on them. I don't understand the objection personally.
Both of my girls have them and the backpacks and lunchboxes have held up well. The small is a perfect size for preschool/kindergarten. DD2 has the small and I think she is the same age as your DS (March b-day). We have embroidered names on the backpacks when they were using them for trips to grandma's house, etc., but not the ones used for school.
Yep we have them and love them. Dd has moved on to justice which is surprisingly good quality too. I am about to order DS a back pack from there.
Good to know as Julia's ready to move "up" too lol! I was surprised by how nice her winter coat from there is actually. Very warm and is holding up well and not crazy expensive!
