On Wednesday, Sarah Palin suggested Obama’s performance as Commander in Chief is related to the struggles of veterans like her oldest son.
“That starts from the top,” she told the crowd. “It’s a shame that our military personnel even have to wonder, if they have to question, if they’re respected anymore. It starts from the top. The question though that comes from our own president where they have to look at him and wonder, do you know what we go through?”

Her son was getting into all kinds of trouble even before he went into the Army. The entire family is a trainwreck. Except for Todd Palin. He's not too bad.

If he is known to be suffering from PTSD, why did he have access to firearms? This situation could have turned tragic* with a quickness.
*not downplaying the effects of DV, I hope his victim gets the help and support she needs
Not everyone with PTSD is dangerous. It sounds like his issues come more from being an asshole than PTSD.
I didn't mean to imply that, I'm sorry. What I wrote was in direct response to Sarah Palin using PTSD as the reason he became violent. If that is indeed the case (as it could be, goodness knows we're terrible at supporting our returning soldiers), then his having access to firearms is in turn, dangerous. I should have specified PTSD that manifests in a violent manner in my original comment since as you said, not everyone with PTSD is violent.

I didn't get the sense you were implying the sense that all PTSD sufferers are all dangerous, I hate how it's represented that way in the media though. The media makes it sound that PTSD sufferers are all dangerous to those around us. I hate how it's represented in the media, as it creates such an awful stigma.

Gotcha. And aren't we all just gobsmacked that Palin is perpetuating that myth by using it to explain/excuse her son's violent actions. But really, it's all Obama's fault.
I was watching the clip of her endorsing him and I'm convinced she was high at the time or just an even bigger cartoon than usual. Even Donald looked like he wanted to laugh the entire time.
