Ok, so this is probably a silly question so I apologize in advance. We have a trip to Banff booked for next month (yay!!). We will be doing a lot of outdoor winter activities. What kind of bag/ purse do I carry?
I know I'm going to need something to stick a few essentials like my phone (camera), Chapstick, wallet, etc.
If we are out in the snow doing activities like snowboarding/skiing/snowmobiling etc. H carries a backpack and we put things in there. If it's just dinner out, walking around town type stuff I carry my regular purse. A crossbody would keep your hands free depending on what exactly you are doing.
ETA: My snowboard jacket has inner pockets that I keep essentials in like chapstick and phone.
You mean for while you're doing snow activities, or afterwards/in the evenings?
Yeah, I mean for while we're out doing snow activities. With the bulkiness of snow gear I wasn't really sure what to bring and more than likely my husband won't be carrying any sort of backpack. I figured afterwards I'll just carry my usual purse.
Like I said, silly question, but this Houstonian has very little experience in snow!
I'm from Houston too! I got most of our snow gear from Academy or Sun & Ski. Most snow clothes have interior pockets, that will probably be your best bet.

If we are going out for a while snowshoeing/ hiking we bring a backpack with essentials and safety stuff. If we are just walking around I put things in my pockets.
My ski jacket has tons of pockets and I pare down to ID, credit card, key, chapstick, and tissues. Same with H. I've seen people ski with backpacks but I never felt like I needed one.
One tip is too make sure you can carry your pocket book over your jacket. We had a visitor from Alabama last winner who brought a Michelin man type coat with big puffy sleeves. She brought her regular purse which did not fit on her shoulder in the Michelin man type coat.
