I'd guess that they need the plane when the airport reopens. If planes cannot land, then if all planes wind up at other airports, they have no transport for the people that they need to move out too.
I've been there, only I was trying to cross the country to get to my very sick dad. I got stuck at LGA for 2 days, 300 miles from my destination.
Travel is a mess right now. We have a group of students at one of my hotels and they put 50 of them on a bus to Atlanta last night so they could then fly to Miami. The rest of them basically have to camp out at the hotel and wait out the storm to fly home hopefully Sunday or Monday.
I was wondering if you were still going. My boss was flying from Des Moines to Logan last night and was worried about his flight being cancelled or delayed.
This is so dumb because we aren't expecting anything much and not until tomorrow. I'm sorry
I know some places like North Carolina have already declared a state of emergency so if her flight wasn't direct and had to stop somewhere in the way to Miami I can see why they cancelled it. It still sucks!

That's AA for you. I HATE them so so much. They did this to us before and I haven't flown them in 10 years. They have the worst customer service. Rude and obnoxious. What are they offering you?
AA tried to change my friends flight to 6 o'clock. After they said that they would be cancelling flights after 5.
When my friend called the CSR on that bullshit he was told that they had to make room in earlier flights for business class and first class passengers because they are the priority....

Completely agree. AA is the literal worst. After my experience with them trying to get home after New Years when they cancelled both my flight and then the rescheduled flight (the next morning at 5:30 am), told me it would be 3 days before they could get me on another flight, and refused to book me on another airline (we finally bought last minute tickets on Jetblue and were promised a refund for the cancelled flight), I will never fly them again if I have another choice. And don't even get me started on what a PITA getting a refund was. I'm still trying to get a refund for some of the associated fees (they refunded only the actual ticket price).
I was pissed when they changed our seat assignments and didn't notify me. I cannot imagine how livid I'd be had they cancelled my flight! How shitty. I'm really sorry.

My boss flew from Des Moines to Chicago yesterday afternoon and his United flight from Chi to Boston was cancelled and they told him he'd have to wait until today-he told me he said fuck that and wound up buying a ticket on a Southwest flight and getting to Boston after midnight.

I know, I know. Still dumb and I feel bad. I have a friend from the UK who is supposed to be visiting on a stopover from NY to Boston and I'm not sure it'll happen
