For a book, I'd highly recommend It Starts With Food by Dallas and Melissa Ewing. It is fairly new. I thought it was a really good read, just the right balance between accessible and informative. They are strict though. Mark Sisson (The Primal BluePrint and Mark's Daily Apple website) offers a less-strict perspective. But I think its really good to read both to get all the information, then decide what works for you.
Also, there were a few paleo cookbooks free on amazon this week for the kindle. Even if you don't have a device, you can get a kindle app and check them out.

I really like Everyday Paleo - both the cookbook and blog - and PaleOMG.com to get meal ideas. There is a website called Paleo Plan that has weekly menus for making eating paleo easier. I found the easiest way to start paleo was to read everything about it I could get my hands on, and to purchase a few cookbooks (I have Everyday Paleo, Paleo Comfort Foods, and Well-fed) and to look through paleo blogs to get recipe ideas, then just go to the store and start from scratch. It took some work at first to figure out what I was going to eat without dairy or grains, but it got easier after a week or two, and I have never felt or looked better than when eating paleo.

How do I find these free books?
I use the Kindle iPad app, so I am not sure if it is the same, but I can go to the Kindle Store and there is a "free" link on the side that will link to the current free books.
Read anything by Rob Wolff. My favorite website is Mark's Daily Apple (he's Primal, but it's a similar principle). www.marksdailyapple.com/#axzz24wjaQRwo
My DH has been eating Paleo for a year. I have a whole pin board of paleo/primal/low carb recipes if you're on Pinterest: pinterest.com/karbear/recipes-for-matt/
