My DD is 6 months old and for the last 2+ months has been sleeping really well, usually 1 wakeup around 12-1 (7-8 bedtime), wakeup for the day around 7-8am. Every so often she has a bad night but has been pretty consistent.
Until about a week and a half ago, when she started also waking at 4-5am. We had done CIO before so tried that but I end up going in and feeding her after about 20 min, give or take. She goes back to sleep just fine usually. If she is still awake I'll put her down in the crib anyway and she'll play with her lovey and fall asleep within 15 min.
The past 4-5 days she has been waking up with poop in her diaper. She stopped pooping overnight somewhere around 2-3 months.. So this sucks. We were hoping it was just first thing in the morning, but then my DH (who changes her first) said it was appearing dry so it had to have been sitting longer.. Although I hadn't smelled it when I've been getting up with her, I said I'll start checking her diaper when I feed her MOTN.
Last night she woke at 11:30, a little earlier than normal, and I could smell it so I changed her and hoped all was good. Got up with her at 6am, didn't check, but she didn't smell. At 8 when DH changed her - more poop.
I have to think she's not sleeping well because she's pooping overnight... How do I change her body's schedule? Previously she was pretty good about going in the afternoon 1-3, now she isn't during the day but is overnight.
We feed her solids (purees) twice a day around 12-1pm and 5-6pm.
As you introduce more/different foods, poop changes, as does timing. P had a phase of pooping at night, around that time. Once she started having more grains it stopped because she was pooping a bit less often. Now that she's on mostly solid foods, there's a consistent schedule.
DS also had/has some frustrating poop and sleep issues. They have mostly resolved themselves, though he still goes 4-5 times a day even at 14 months. Most mornings and after most naps he wakes with poop. I'd maybe try doing solids in the morning to help get things moving during the day, and also make sure she's getting plenty to drink. At the pedi's recommendation, we started offering a sippy of water around 6 months. I find when DS is a little dehydrated, he tends to have more MOTN or early morning pooping.
