I hear you, but it is worth it. It always hurts while you wait for the items but as soon as you get them back, fitting extremely well, it's so worth it.
Ouch, but you will look fabulous! Are there any places by your work? I see places all the time up here and by our corporate office (close to Harwin). Also Nordstrom isn't too bad if you buy pieces from there to be tailored.
I completely sympathize. Tailoring costs are the reason I own very few pairs of pants (aka "trousers" now that I live in London...I own plenty of "pants" .
I hope you own more than 5 pair of "pants." They definitely cannot be worn more than once between washings.

Lololol technically this is near where I work. The cleaners that delivers to the campus does repairs but not true tailoring.
Hah oops. I always think of your campus more "in town". You would think the cleaners would offer that too, you guys get all the fun stuff!
Yes, so worth it, but I rarely take the time to do it. The worst is when you buy something that is cheap, then realize it is best altered and you don't want to spend that much on it. I have stopped that for the most part, but it was definitely an issue when I was younger.
Jackets are hard - I'm not surprised you neared $100 with that list.
(I sew reasonably well, not professionally but just for myself, and have only tried to make a jacket once. It didn't turn out that well. I will do skirts, pants, dresses, but if I wanted a jacket tailored, I'd absolutely take it to a professional.)
