What are some of your favorite books that are just all around enjoyable reads? Good plot and/or characters, nothing too sad or serious. Like a book equivalent of "Back to the Future".
The latest one for me would be Ready Player One. The Harry Potter books would too.

I love the Enchanted Inc series (girl in NYC who works for a secret magical company) and the Royal Spyness series (depression era England. Society woman who is 34th in line for the throne solves murders and mixes with the royal family and famous people from the era)
I pretty much love anything Stephanie Bond writes - "In Deep Voodoo" and "Voodoo Or Die" are my favorites. There's another author, Ann Charles, who writes similarly; she has a whole series that I love - the Deadwood series. Annnd there's another series by Karina Halle I really liked, Experiment in Terror, which is a paranormal/romance series.
Oh, good thread. I've liked the Royal Spyness series too, and also Lauren Willig's books (both the Pink Carnation series and her stand-alone novels), and C.S. Harris's Sebastian St. Cyr series (these are on the dark side, might not count as "fun"). Susanna Kearsley's and Beatriz Williams' books are always interesting reads as well.

Anything by Christopher Moore. They are a little "R-rated," with swearing and "adult" situations. But the stories are hilarious, and the writing superb.

Sushi for beginners by Marian Keyes was the book that got me started on the British/Irish romantic comedy books. I love her and Sophie kinsella as well.
They're so so so so so so so bad, and yet I could NOT put them down. I had to keep going. I rolled my eyes every other second. I hated myself. I hated everything, and yet could.not.stop.
