And he was awesome. He listened to my whole tale of woe, asked questions, and at the end came up with a game plan. He thinks I may have an unusual presentation of insulin resistance. So it's lots of labs (including the joy of the 24-hour jug-o-pee) and possibly some diabetes-type medications, depending on labs. (I am not diabetic). In the meantime, I'm to cut back on carbs (to 120g from 170g).
You guys, he did not make me feel like a nutter. Not even a little. I was so scared he'd just dismiss like "another fat girl in denial about her weight" but nope! There may actually be a medical cause for this!
Fantastic! I'm so glad you finally found someone who is listening. Out of curiosity, what did he say about the carb load and your swimming? Did he create space in your macro plan for big training days?
That's great! I'm also working with an RD for reactive hypoglycemia, and have the same carb limit (and need to hit 120g protein). A bit tricky but do-able, hope you feel better and see results soon!
Yes!!! So happy you finally met with someone who understands and can hopefully help. This is promising! You deserve a great outcome and this is a wonderful update.

He suggested that with adequate protein, normal training shouldn't be a problem. On truly heavy days, be suggested my usual carb mix (malto, cranberry, and water) was fine at 80 kcal/hour or so. He said if I need more calories than that, I can try ucan or another more carb neutral product.

Can you give me an idea of how it works? I'm struggling to put this together without going full Atkins and that sounds awful.
