Five of my friends/co-workers are due in June and I am starting to knit some blankets for them. I'm planning on doing the Spiral Blanket Awesome but want to change up the edging a bit. I like the fringe, but it seems like it will take up tons of yarn (limited resource when you have five to make!). I've found lots of online resources for edges, but they are all written starting with a CO row. I want to do something a bit nicer than a garter stitch edge, but I'm having trouble finding a good resource for an edge pattern that ends with a BO row. Any ideas for a fun border that I don't have to transpose to make work?
Look for "decorative bind offs" instead of edges- there are tons.
If you know how to crochet, you have tons of easy to add on choices, there, too!
I love spiral blankets with ruffles (obviously not yarn friendly and not always gender neutral), applied i-cord loops, and scallops. I love spiral blankets with pom-poms or tassels arranged around the edge. I think a simple picot trim is adorable on them, too.
