If your kid is having a play date how close do you stay and what do you do? Brought to you by our first play date without a parent staying. The girl is a new neighbor and I don't know her or her parents well if that matters.
It depends on the kid. Several of DD'S friends who come over often play upstairs, with me just peeking in. DD also plays at the neighbors and I know neighbor isn't on top of them.
They play in the backyards with minimal supervision too. DD knows the rules, no piggy back rides, picking each other up, running or jumping on or off of beds lol
I'd probably sneak in and check a little more frequently than if it were just my own kids, but I wouldn't feel the need to be with them the whole time.
I AM kind of paranoid about my kids, but if my 4 year olds went to a friend's house, I'd only expect a parent to check in on them playing occasionally and if anyone was like screaming or something
Ok awesome our house is pretty open so I should be good snuggling my baby, reading and letting them play. Dd1 very rarely is alone without me right there. It's a treat! Although we do need to discuss play date manners and some rules for when friends visit....

I wouldn't expect to be right there, but dd JUST had a friend from school over this afternoon, and even though she knows this girl well and they play together at school all the time, they had trouble playing today so I ended up with them a lot. I'd def. have no problem leaving them be if they are doing ok though!
