So about last Wednesday ds started coughing pretty bad but at that point had no other symptoms. By the weekend he had a lot of yellow snot and Sunday night had a fever of 101 so he obviously stayed home from school Monday. By Monday afternoon his fever was down and he was acting like himself. So I sent him to school Tuesday even though he still had a little snot and coughing. Yesterday afternoon about 1:00 the nurse called me to come get him. The teacher said he had been acting fine all day but then put his head down and said he was tired so he was sent to the nurse where he had a temperature of 100. This morning he has no fever, no snot, no coughing however per school policy I had to keep him home today.
dd woke up at 4:30am yesterday with a temperature of 102. I gave her Tylenol and water and stripped her down to her diaper to help her cool off and she went right back to sleep. I did the rotating Tylenol and Motrin yesterday and with the help of medicine she was acting just fine. This morning after not having medicine all night her temp was 99.8. She has no other symptoms other than a fever and she's acting just fine today.
i feel like I would look stupid for bringing them in to the pediatrician since they both seem to be getting better but on the other hand I feel like I should go simply to get a doctors note for ds since he's been out of school 2 1/2 days this week. Our school district is not really clear about when they require a doctors note. All they have on the website is an absence excuse form for parents to fill out and sign when their kid is absent which says on the bottom "please attach a doctors note when required"
I probably wouldn't bother taking them to the doctor, and just keep them home to rest. Unless someone spikes a fever again, it sounds like they've both pretty much fought it off. I would fill out the form and explain the reason for the absence but not worry about the note. I'd really be surprised if the school made that much of a fuss over 2 1/2 days.

This is what I'm leaning towards. And if the school tries to tell me that I need a doctors note I will just tell them that he would have been fine to go to school today but I kept him home because of their policy.

Thanks for all the opinions. We didn't go to the pedi yesterday but we will be going today because ds woke screaming in the middle of the night that his ear hurt.

Oh shoot. Poor guy. Kids are such a guessing game when it comes to illness.

Aw poor guy, hope he feels better
He's a tough kid. He actually told me he wanted to go to school then go to the doctor after school.
