Hi there! I mainly stay on parenting board but need help starting to apply and get back to work. I've been staying at home since my oldest was born 4 1/2 years ago. Filling out applications online it asks current position and pay, duties, etc. should I actually fill this part in? Feels awkward and don't know how to phrase things...any advice or tips?

I hate online applications. You should just put NA or leave it blank, and address your break in employment in your cover letter. Good luck!!
I agree with 7costanza, leave it so they ask and you can either explain in person or in a cover letter. I'd say in the meantime if theres classes or refresher courses you can do for your line of work maybe look into those just so you can add to what you have and let them know you are serious about it.
Definitely include it in a cover letter. Also, I would put something on your resume that states why you were out of work during that time as well. Some people won't look at cover letters, some do. I know for me if I saw a resume with gaps in employment with no explanation I would often times pass on them.
