What suggestions for improvement for incredibly high performers?
I have to provide something. I have nothing. Absolute nothing. They are knowledgeable, productive, helpful and just generally amazing. They make my job so much easier.
What would they need to do to move to the next level/get promoted? Is there anything they have shown interest in that could be used as a development opportunity? Thinking about those questions might help.
Is there a specific program or technology or skill they could learn more about? For instance, I am in PR and my boss's suggested I attend a speechwriters conference so I could apply those skills and start doing more executive communications.
Thanks for the suggestions. This is a new format that my company created for quarterly appraisals. It's in a narrative form. The three categories are highlights, areas in need of improvement, and action items/goals. The forms are supposed to be essentially a formalized recap of the quarter based on discussions in biweekly 1:1s with me. I literally have no issues documented, because there have been no issues whatsoever. Many of the suggestions you guys have given are what I am using for action items, but they aren't necessarily areas that need improving. It's hard to explain without giving too much detail. But basically, these two people have been with the company 15+ years, are at the highest level and are both actually gearing down toward retirement. Nevertheless they are my go-to people and seen as a resource for the entire company. They have already created training manuals and provide training to others on a regular basis. I ended up speaking to my boss about it and was given the OK to leave that section blank for them both. So thank you! I have your ideas tucked away for some of my other people though. I hate doing these.
