Hello to the wise ladies that have traveled this road before me... so, I finally heard from my stupid lawyer this mornign, she e-mailed me my divorce petition to sign off on. It basically just says we split everything and fair and reasonable comments here and there pertaining to our asses, property, cars, etc... (which we agreed to this in mediation, but all those details aren't broken down in this petition, is that normal? Like we agreed truck equals my 401K.
So, now what happens?
I'm concerned the divorce petition has no monetary values, does that come after the judge does whatever he has to do. I was hoping for something in writing that my DH will agree to x amount of money for house, etc... I guess I'm just curious when the actual money transaction takes place?
That info was in my property settlement agreement, something that either the lawyers or the mediator should be drawing up. My petition for divorce was my complaint filed with the court that stated that there were irreconcilable differences, we had jurisdiction, blah blah blah. The property settlement agreement was submitted to the court as proof that we had divided things up. In it, all the nitty gritty details (401k, taxes, custody of dogs, closing of bank accounts) were included in the property settlement agreement. We were adults and complied with the settlement agreement accordingly. It was in writing in case one of us didn't follow through.
Perfect, thanks so much, this is exaclty what I needed to know, so we still draw up the settlement agreement which has all the details, phew!

Totally different circumstances in AZ and without a lawyer, there were attachments to the decree that listed details, numbers made it into the decree in several places.

Mine was the same way (but both of us are in the same state)
my actual petition was like 1 page and then all the other documentation that went with it, like proof he wasn't in the military, etc...I did file my MSA (like the PSA) with the court when i filed my divorce complaint...i filed everything at once since we had already agreed on everything...when we went to court we had to take the copy of the MSA with us with a copy for the judge.
