I love this show but 7 seasons is pretty ambitious for a netflix series. Also I cannot handle 4 more seasons of Piper.
A- yes, 7 seems very ambitious.
B- there are a lot of shows where, while I love the show, I actually get to a point where I'm ready for it to end. I'm not there yet w/ OITNB - but to have FOUR more seasons go to, I might get tired of it!!
Quite honestly, I'm looking forward to Downton to end. I like the show, I'll miss it when it's gone, but I just feel like "it's time".
I've watched the first two episodes and I don't really love it. Did you guys love it right from the start, or did it grow on you? I read the book and also thought it was just so-so.

I loved it from the start, honestly. I am struggling to remember Season 3's plotlines, lol. Guess I'll need to rewatch. I hate Piper, but love the supporting characters.

I had really hoped Piper would come across better in the book (I mean, she wrote it, so you'd think), but she really didn't seem to connect her experience to the experience of other inmates very well. She came off as treating them as the "other" when she was supposed to be making the point that these women are victims of an unjust system.
Very disappointed and it made me less interested in the show.
Yeah, I can't see 4 more seasons. I mean how are they going to explain her being in prison for 7 years on an 18 month sentence (I'm assuming each season is a year, that's how it seems to me and I don't think they ever said otherwise). I know it got extended for her fight but really? I think they should do 1 more season to wrap it up and then call it a day.

That is the whole point of her character, I think ! She is supposed to be privileged and self absorbed and annoying.
I don't think each season is a year though. Hasn't Daya(??) been pregnant in all three seasons? Or at least 2&3...
Well, she got pregnant by the guard guy and they pinned it on Pornstache who left at the end of S1 so that must have happened in S1 and I think she had the baby in S3, right?

I haven't actually finished #3, I'm about half through. But still, that doesn't equal one year per season.

Oh definitely not. I was just working through the timeline in my head. Out loud, lol.

I guess I wanted the point to be that she's not all that different from the images, despite her privilege. Inmates aren't actually that different from the rest of us, despite their demonization. In fact, she may even be worse, because she has choices the others didn't enjoy.
A season is NOT a year. already noted above with the pregnancy. I feel like a season is a few weeks/ maybe 2 or 3 months. Then the lapse between seasons is similar.
When piper beat the crap out of Kentucky, season 2 started where she was going back to gen pop after serving her punishment.
Seven is definitely too much! At some point Piper is going to have to get out.
Shows need to learn the graceful art of bowing out while they're ahead. I know they want to keep riding the gravy train, but they can come up with a new show that will carry the same following since it's "from the makers of OITNB".
I wonder if it will be a couple more seasons with Piper in jail and then a couple of seasons with her in the outside world getting back to normal life while still following the story lines inside the prison too?

When I heard this I was also thinking that 7 seems excessive. Am I the only one who misses the storyline with Jason Biggs and whoever played Piper's friend? I'd be interested in seeing them back. But, overall, Piper is the worst. I'm guessing she does stupid things that keep her in jail longer for the show.

I would love to see Larry and Polly back! What a seriously fucked up thing for them to do. I want to see consequences of that!
