Southern Maine 2150 sq. ft. We seem to average between 400 and 550 KWh in the winter months (when we get our hot water from the furnace; in the summer we switch over to an electric water heater). I have an electric dryer but I use propane for cooking and we use heating oil for heat.
NJ 2300 sq.ft Electric - 975 KWH Gas - not sure the therms, but our bill is never more than $12. We only have gas stove and dryer though. We have oil heat - our bank account is thankful for the low prices this season!

I know we're near you and likely use the same electric company. We average about 800 kwh a month. Our house is old--1896--and isn't nearly as efficient as it should be. Our stained and leaded glass let out in cold air like crazy. We're about 3,500 square feet.
1963sf, dual fuel heat (heat pump to 40*, gas below that)
electric: 723kWh gas: 67 therms
thanks to this post I just contacted our gas company because our budget billing amount is going up despite getting a refund at the end of the last budget billing year. because that makes sense.
Why is my kWh usage so much higher? I blame my heat pump.
We talked about this when you moved in, didn't we? What's your electricity usage in months like May or October (months where you probably aren't using much heat or electricity)?

May was 1,272
Oct was 1,184
So you're using a good amount even without the heat pump.

I just can't figure out on what. The hottub can't be taking up that much energy in those months. So the lights in the house? I need to switch them to LED.

Do you have regular incandescent bulbs or CFL? It won't be cheap to change to LEDs but it was save you a ton on your energy cost (Costco sells a lot of bulbs in bulk). It might be worth it to do the bulbs that get the most use. How good is the cover on your tub and what temp do you keep it at? Do you have a programmable thermostat and if so do you have it programed? Do you have an extra fridge or freezer? You might want to sign up for this, I can't tell how detailed it is (like if it takes the hot tub into account) but it might help you figure it out.

I did try that site once. Not super helpful. Our thermostat isn't great but we were waiting for the pump to be removed and a new a/c unit to go in before replacing it. I am hoping that have that done in the next month or so.
We keep the tub at 50-60 when not in use. Bought a new cover for it when we moved in.
