I know I had it with dd but I can't really remember the details. All my ob said was to go to the hospital some time next week. No instructions or anything.
I seem to remember from last time that I can eat breakfast- am I right in thinking I should eat protein and not anything sugary?
I feel like the OB just assumes I remember stuff or maybe k just read more last time.

Any tips?
Is it different in canada? @vicmo?
Here my midwife sent me home with the orange drink at 24 weeks and I had an appointment for 28 weeks for lab before my prenatal appt. I was to drink the juice one hour before lab and then be there so they could draw me exactly at the one hour mark. My instructions for DS1 were no breakfast and my instructions for DS2 had changed. I would call your provider and see what they are doing. I was also sent home with the instruction sheet.
If you can't eat, make your appt for as early in the morning as possible.
For mine, I showed up at the lab and was given the drink right there. They told me to drink it within 5 minutes and then started the clock when I was done drinking. Bloodwork taken at the end of the hour.
I was told to eat/drink normally before, but I think eating protein is supposed to be good.
Ok yes I remember drinking it there. Oh God I'm dreading that drink.

I was given strict fasting instructions last time while many other friends weren't. My doctor used a lower cutoff than some others too. There seems to be no standard. I'd ask for clarification.
They gave me the drink at my 24 week appointment so I could do the test at the next appointment. I was told to fast for two hours before the blood draw and drink the stuff one hour before. I just had to tell the front desk that I needed my glucose test and when I had the drink so they could draw my blood at one hour after. I had ten minutes to get the drink down. It wasn't the most pleasant thing, but I didn't think it was any worse than drinking juice or regular soda.
I was told to eat dessert every night for the week prior to the test. Seriously - they said to have a candy bar every day. I wasn't supposed to fast for the 1 hour.
For the 3 hour test, I had to fast for at least 8 hours.
For the 1 hour test, I did not have to fast. Mine happened to be in the afternoon; I drank the drink and they tested me only once, an hour after the drink.
For the 3 hour test (since I failed the 1 hour), it was fasting so I did it first thing in the AM. Fasting blood test, drink, then blood test at hours 1, 2, and 3. My fasting and 3 hr. numbers were fine, but failing 2 or more (which I did at hours 1 and 2) meant a GD diagnosis.

I only had to fast for the 3 hour. I was told to eat breakfast, but to be careful about not eating too much sugar or carbs the day before and that morning.
