So, I'm parked in front of the liquor store with my kid waiting for H to come out. There is an older (maybe 65-70) woman standing on the sidewalk in front of your car. She's standing there for a while (5-10 minutes) looking around, checking her watch etc. she appears to be waiting for a taxi or a ride. Does not appear confused or disoriented at all. I'm just in my car talking to DS, listening to some tunes when another younger woman comes out of the store, talks briefly to the woman and then signals for me to roll down my window. She asks me to move my car because this woman has been waiting for me to move my car because she thinks I'm too close and can't get into her car (I don't remember if she was already there when I pulled in).
Wtf? She's been standing there for almost ten minutes just waiting for me to move my car. She did not make eye contact with me or try to get my attention that I noticed. And then the other younger woman tells me to maybe do a better job parking next time.
Who just stands there and thinks that someone knows you want them to move their car?! I am a woman with a small child in the back seat. I don't think I look too intimidating to approach! I apologized and told her that had I know. I would have moved right away! Then I told my son that if you want something, just ask! Don't stand around waiting for someone to read your goddamn mind! Ok. I didn't swear but that's what I was thinking!
She could be legitimately developing alzheimers or something bc that just doesn't seem normal. Or maybe she's ultra paranoid? or schizophrenic? That's so strange.
That's true. Maybe she was. I really thought it was strange but some of the suggestions here are making me less wtf about it. Hey, maybe I just look like a Raving bitch and she was uneasy approaching me. Or maybe she tried to get my attention and I just didn't see her. Who knows?
I'd have lit the younger woman up for her comment on your parking job. But I have rage issues. Were you parked on the curb in front of the store or in a normal lot? What if you hadn't been in the car? Would the old woman have waited all day until you came back? People are odd.

Lol. I did thank her sarcastically for her advice. It was a lot but there are non-tandem spots right in front of the store as well which is where I was.
I don't know why she felt she couldn't say something to you.
A lesson to learned: This is what can happen when a person lives their life feeling like they can never be perceived as "confrontational"--even when it's something as small as asking someone to move their car.
"Why would you ruin perfectly good peanuts by adding candy corn? That's like saying hey, I have these awesome nachos, guess I better add some dryer lint." - Nonny
That is bizarre. Even if she couldn't communicate verbally for some reason, there are many ways to send that message nonverbally. A "can you scoot over a bit?" type of hand signal, attempt to walk between the cars and signal to show that you can't, etc. Unless "listening to some tunes" meant blasting gangsta rap or death metal and she was afraid of you. lol.
And the younger woman can fuck right off with her editorial comments.

Haha, I thought about this post today while we were leaving a birthday party. I was sitting in the car regrouping a little bit after loading my 4 kids in the car, and noticed a guy standing in front of my car with a little girl. We had talked to them at the party and he was chatting with another parent, but then as soon as I backed out he went to put his daughter in the car. I had no idea he was waiting on me, and there was plenty of room for him to open his door! ?
