Awww, this brought back memories of the earthquake we had here last August. My reaction was to jump from the couch and run around my apartment while flailing my arms. Pretty sure that's not how Californians react when there are earthquakes, right?

HAHA no, we just look at the USGS site and take bets on the magnitude
This one was tiny though - 4.1 with the epicenter about 5 miles from where we are. So we felt it pretty good since it was close, but nothing crazy.

This Floridian acted in a similar manner when we had a huge one in Japan. I was fine with all the 4s and 5s we got, and just would go to USGS to check, but that one was a 7.1. At midnight. And I was tipsy. And without contacts/glasses. Oh, and in my birthday suit.
Yeah, it involved thinking I had to turn on all lights and go in the kitchen (well, stumble as the floor was rolling and lurching). Until I pictured glass falling out of the cabinets. So I went and sat in the living room b/c there wasn't a 2nd floor about there. smrt. Why I didn't think to crawl under the dining table is beyond me. My dog was equally dumb as she sat on the bouncing bed staring at us until I got her to come sit by me.

Haha. I was refreshing the USGS site before the shaking even stopped. I'm fascinated by earthquakes....as long as they stay small.

True story. Sometimes I don't even realize it was a quake until later on the news. The small ones feel like big trucks going by.

Oh, for a 7.1 I think there would be arm flalling here, too.

That is exactly how they feel. Sometimes they roll and you can't tell if you're dizzy or if something actually happened until you see the lights swinging.
We moved into a 10th floor office last month and I have yet to experience an earth quake here. We have a good view, though.
Yeah, in my one and only earth quake, I started screaming and yelled at my entire family to get in a door way (apparently I saw that on TV once). I swore that would keep us safe, nevermind the fact that we were on the 70th floor of a building, lol.
I'm petrified of earthquakes. Fortunately, I've never been in one
Hey, Quebec is on a fault. A fairly non-active fault, but it's acted up before.
And out here, sometimes we'll have huge earthquakes along a fault they didn't even know existed! Oops.
I'm a ways away from quebec!!
Although I think there is a very small, non-active fault somewhere in Ontario. At one point I recall reading an article about some of our nuclear power plants being built on top. SMART!
I am kind of sad that I have yet to feel the last 3 here. As long as they are small and not big. . Right now I am sitting West of Downtown L.A. on the 5th floor of a building on roller, so if it centered in the OC, I probably wouldn't have felt anything. If I was at home there is a small chance.
Plus, who needs USCGs website when you have FB. Then I know exactly how much each area of California felt it.

Oh. Yeah. I'm a dumb American who forgot how big Ontario is.
