I have it scheduled for 4pm today and i'm so nervous I'm thinking about canceling. I want reassurance if you have any to give.
This isn't a vanity thing, it's more that my glasses and my contacts are impractical to life now. Since having kids I had some weird hormonal changes and can't wear my contacts for any length of time. Glasses are too annoying for activities like running and I'm constantly smudging them or the kids are knocking them off my face.
Now I'm worried that I'm making a huge mistake. I can take the Valium in 2 hours, 50 minutes. Not that I'm counting down or anything.
I didn't, but DH did. He still says it was the best decision he ever made for his health. He wore contacts/glasses and had astigmatism, and now he has 20/20.
The valium helps, and he said you really don't feel anything and it only takes 5 minutes.
DOOOOO it! By tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest, you'll be all "MY GOD, this is amazing!"

Some of the best money I've ever spent! I also took a fabulous nap once I got home after the procedure, which was exactly what the doc told me to do-- so follow those instructions!
Do it! It has been life changing for me. DH and I both had it done. I had a little more pain than he did after his (he never had any), but the eye drops helped a ton. I took a couple ibuprofen PM when I got home, went to bed, and felt fine the next day. The actual procedure itself was very easy. I'm a huge wimp when it comes to these things. If I can do it, anyone can.
Thank you all! I was seriously about to call and cancel.
And my H is sure I'm going to be blinded which doesn't help with the nerves (although he is keeping those opinions to himself I KNOW WHAT HE'S THINKING).
Sorry, first thing this morning he sent me a picture of a giant roach on the floor of his office bathroom. Then, when I told him that, you know, I hate him for that, he told me it was the size of a mouse. So he's on my list today.
I did it 13 years ago. I was terrified before I went in and ecstatic when I walked out after the surgery.
Just follow the post of instructions to the letter (which will mean no screen time for x number of days) and you'll be fine. I recommend taking some ibuprofen post op (to help with any eye itching you might have) and then a nap. It's good for the incisions.

I don't think they limit screen time anymore. At least mine didn't.

You'll be fine. LASIK is so safe and precise now with the bladeless lasers making the flap. I haven't had it done but I've observed a ton of surgeries and co manage post-op patients. Take your Valium and you'll be a happy girl before you know it!

My DH was sure I'd go blind, too. It was so life-changing and awesome that he ended up having it done three weeks later. You will love it!!!

This exactly, DH needed good eye sight for work and made the leap, he loves it.
I really want to do it, but the thought of the actual procedure completely makes me anxious and light headed. I wish I wasn't such a wimp.
It's really not bad. The Valium really helps! They strap your head into place (which isn't as scary as it sounds), then you just stare at a red light for a few minutes. You don't feel anything.
I didn't have issues with the procedure. Plenty of valium. Apparently my feet were tapping nervously, but I didn't notice, and it didn't affect outcome. It's really very easy.
So the biggest question imo is if you want to exchange vision for night time halos. I was happy to do it. My vision was that bad. BUT 3 years later I still hate driving at night. I still have problems I'd have had similar with contacts although not as bad, but it's something to think about.
