Don't you use an in home daycare too? It's not like my dcp is going to give up part of her salary for PayPal fees. My cleaning service is also check only. Luckily I get my checks for free (and shipping for free).
Yes, she actually just started having some typ of app where you can pay her with a card, but it takes a 3% service fee (payable by me). And I also find that i need to write checks for a lot of the PTO fundraisers and things for the school. I can't imagine how I would completely stop using checks.
5 month old baby, day 4 of fever (reaches 103ish). Responds to meds when she doesn't barf immediately. Would you call the pedi? Ptetty sure it started as RSV since big sister had it last week.
Eta- not struggling to breathe, but definitely deep congestion she's having a hard time coughing up.
Ugh so two weeks into my maternity leave and they already messed up my pay at work. This happened last time so I purposely made it easy or so I thought for them. Basically they charged me more to for these two weeks then I was scheduled to use the whole leave
Yes. They're telling you to stop buying checks. lol
I am old, okay!!!
I "write" checks from my bank account. They print them and mail them for me. Saves the stamp and you can set them up to repeat for things like daycare...
Another check user here! I actually just posted about them a few days ago. I use them for DCP, putting money in my school lunch account, girl scout cookies, etc. I don't use them super often but I can't imagine NEVER using or having them. There is plenty of stuff that doesn't take cards for payment.
Thankfully we get checks free because of DH's work, but he has to be the one to go in and order them and that's annoying!
Shit, you guys are making me realize that I've been pointedly ignoring the Valentines Day sign up sheet in DD's classroom. Better get on that this morning.
DD's preschool does no holiday or birthday celebrations in the name of "maintaining the routine." With 24 kids in the class I totally get it. She did bring home some candy from her daycare party but i only showed her the valentines, not the candy, so she is oblivious.
I am actually excited for the loot M may bring home from his V-day party on Friday. There is one pintresty mom who did awesome cookies and handmade candy things for xmas so I am really holding out hope!
M has announced he is going to be rich because he will work at the car wash. We asked him if he will own the car wash he said "no, just work at the car wash". I am glad my kid has aspirations at such a young age.
Usually I'm at school by 7:30 but technically I don't have to be until 8. I just like to get here early and have some time before the kids come and the day starts. Since yesterday and today we have conferences until 8pm after teaching all day I've been coming in at 8 and not earlier. It's so nice. I didn't even leave the house until 7:35 this morning! Did daycare drop-off and got to school at about 7:55. I should maybe make this a habit, but then I would lose my alone time in my classroom every morning. It's a trade-off for sure.
We have no school tomorrow because of conferences and then teachers are done at noon and no school Monday. So we're having our class Valentine's Day party today. I already have 6 boxes or containers of chocolates on my desk. Once we open Valentine's this afternoon I know there are more too because students have already told me so. You guys, I don't need more sweets!! I might keep 1 or 2 to bring home for DH and the rest is going in the staff lounge for whoever wants them.

I do this all the time. I have one box of checks for things that I absolutely must write a check and it will last years.
I just baked DS1's birthday cake and went through all the effort of making a red and white striped pattern, and the effing thing fell apart when I took it out of the pan. I know better, I should have floured the pan but I just sprayed it because I was lazy.
Ugh J got me sick. Sore throat, congested. So tired. He's watching a bunch of tv while I lay on the couch. I really wanted to go to the gym, but don't feel up to it. Maybe later.
I am really loving both my kid's ages right now. DS is almost 4 and so funny and goofy. He loves to play "police chief" (he's the chief and I'm the helpers, of course), hide and seek, and build with Legos. He can go potty mostly unassisted, get his own snacks, and is great about giving me privacy to nurse DD. She is 11 months old which is such a great age IMHO. She laughs at everything, flirts constantly, and LOVES food. She was signing "more" frantically this morning for blueberries. She's happy to go wherever I take her, and ADORES her big brother. He is so, so gentle and kind to her, always thinking about what she might want or need.
So, I highly recommend a 3 year age gap for anyone thinking about kid #2!
WHERE DO ALL THESE KIDS SOCKS COME FROM?! I just put DD down for a nap, and found 5 kid socks in the living room. DS isn't even here, he's at school!! THEY'RE REPRODUCING!
DD's daycare is having a Valentine's party tomorrow where parents are supposed to sign up to bring cookies, juice, etc. I'm mildly annoyed because (a) 1-year-olds don't care about Valentine's day and don't need to celebrate with junk food and (b) I'm lazy and don't want to bring anything. Plus they just had a superbowl party last week.
I'm apparently less breezy than I thought I would be.
holly116, I've had that happen before and just sort of patched it up with frosting and you couldn't even tell once the cake was all frosted. Maybe yours is salvageable?

DH went back to work this week and it's been hard (even with my mom here...we've decided the formula for ideal number of adults in the house is # of babies + 1), but this morning has gone surprisingly well. The babies slept until just after DH left, neither lost their shit or peed on me when I changed their diapers, and then I tandem nursed them (without help for the first time -- feeling like a badass over here!).
Now I need to transfer them downstairs so I can have some breakfast and coffee.
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!

I took the morning off to help with some Valentine stuff in DD's preschool class and I didn't realize they wouldn't need me for the last hour of class while they do other stuff. So I went and picked up a little V-day gift for DS and now I'm hanging out at Starbucks. I'm not mad about it!

Wait....I missed that you had your babies! Congrats!
