How soon after having a baby did you have sex?

Just wondering when other people felt ready.  I have my 6-week PP doctor's appointment this Monday.  I thought I'd feel ready to have sex again by that point, but I'm still bleeding slightly, so I'm apprehensive about it.

I think 12 weeks with DS, and 10 weeks with DD. I was noooooot ready at my 6 week check, that's for sure!

When you finally bite the bullet, have a big glass of wine, go slow, and use lots of lube. Trust me.

I think it was 2-3 months pp last time. Probably longer than that this time. I'm 4 weeks pp and still feel like never having sex again. Lol

A couple days after 6 week appt. I wasn't in any pain but I was not really in the mood. More did it for H (not that he was nagging me). We didn't do it very often in the beginning.

I think it was around 6w, but then not again for a while because it was not pleasant at all.

About 10 weeks with DD and it wasn't comfortable, so a little longer to get make regular. I was not cleared at my 6 week check up.

With DS I was ready, but waited for my 6 week check up. It was normal from the beginning.

Exactly 6 weeks. Like the night after my OB's appointment.
I felt ready and I actually enjoyed it.

I've read that the whole cleared for sex by six weeks is really not scientific. It has to be about how you feel.

I think we tried at 3-4m post partum and it was still not pleasant at all. But I had a lot of tearing so I might be on the later end of being ready.

hahaha.  I don't think we really tried until 4 months PP.  I had a 4th degree tear and a hematoma (massive swelling).  There was no way I was ready at 6 weeks to do anything remotely resembling sex.  Also, I had zero interest at that point.

ETA:  it didn't feel good until 8 months.  By 9-10 months, though, I was enjoying it again.

Always right around the 6 week mark, but more for DH. Then maybe just 1x a week or every other week for a while after that.

DD is 5.5 months right now and I still don't really have a strong desire to. Nursing totally kills it for me.

hahahahaha... 6 months? Poor H. At that point it was still very infrequent since I was Breastfeeding and it hurt like hell

I'm pretty sure it wasn't until close to six months, if I remember correctly. It was fine at that point; I guess we probably could have done it earlier, I just wasn't really in the mood.

Don't do it till you're ready! I was cleared at 5 weeks, actually. And I held off a bit because I was scared. I think that's a very normal fear.

I wasn't quite healed at my 6 week pp check so my OB told me to wait another two weeks. So 8 weeks, but I wasn't thrilled about it at all. It needed to happen for the sake of our relationship though. I didn't actually start to enjoy it again until I started supplementing with formula and weaning off the pump.

OP I would not do it as long as you're still bleeding.

6 weeks but I had a scheduled c/s so felt pretty fine down there.

I wanted to at 4.5 weeks (but didn't), was cleared at 6 weeks, but then PPA/PPD hit at 7.5 weeks. Between dealing with that and being treated for that, I wasn't ready until 14 weeks. It wasn't bad. I built it up on my mind to be painful and it really wasn't for me.

1st time around - the night of my postpartum appointment (6 weeks).

2nd time around (with a third degree tear) - four weeks postpartum after three margaritas.  It was fine during but I was in pain for days afterwards.  I didn't have my postpartum appointment until 8 weeks out and they said I was fine but it hurt for months afterwards.  It got back to normal about 6 months postpartum (one month after weaning).

Around 12 weeks because I got the mirena and was bleeding again from that and just didn't feel into it. DH would have been fine, but I was too exhausted and not into it.

At almost 7 months PP I think we've done it maybe 4-5 times..

Ds2 is 10 weeks today and we haven't yet. I was feeling fine by 6 weeks or so but we have been sick, DH was oot, two kids all over me all the time etc. Maybe I will rally and go for it this weekend if we can manage to find ourselves with two sleeping kids at some point.

After ds1 I think it was 8 or 9 weeks.

I was cleared at 6w but I think we waited a few more weeks. It was pretty uncomfortable and I think we waited another 2 weeks or so before trying again. It took awhile to get back to it feeling normal, honestly. Things improved dramatically when G weaned.

DS started sttn at 10 weeks, so maybe a month after that.

I had a c/s and no lack of sleep, just didn't care. He didn't really care either.

The 1st time I was so nervous that I was like "WHY ISN'T THERE ANY ALCOHOL IN THIS WINE". I almost took a shot of bourbon.

5.5 weeks? It don't remember it hurting or anything. My biggest problem with pp sex was actually having the energy to do it because sleep was at such a premium back then. My kid didn't STTN until almost 8 months.
