Note to self: never take a photo of Bill Murray unless you have permission.
A few unsuspecting fans learned that the hard way when they tried to take photos of the actor at the restaurant Vesuvio in Carmel, California.
According to TMZ, the "Groundhog Day" actor allegedly saw people's flashes going off, grabbed their phones and threw them off the second story rooftop. The police showed up, but TMZ said that Murray apparently offered to pay for the phones and no one pressed charges.
Murray reportedly has a history of violence, as his ex-wife allegedly claimed in their 2008 divorce papers that the actor "hit her in the face and then told her she was 'lucky he didn't kill her.'"

Ugh, that sucks.
He filmed Moonrise Kingdom in my area and apparently he was the nicest guy on the island where they filmed part of the movie. Rumor has it that Bruce Willis was horribly rude to the locals.
Getting your picture taken, sure. But I think people should have the half an ounce of sense to not use flash.
Oh, for sure, they sound like they were being jerks, as well. But destroying their property was an over the top reaction.
I think I agree, but we don't actually know what happened. It could've been picture 1 or it could've been picture 500. He could've gone over and told them "if you take one more goddamn picture I'll break your phone" and they went ahead and kept snapping photos. Or it could've been completely unprovoked. I don't think it's fair to judge the scale of the reaction entirely without knowing everything that happened leading up to it.

Umm... I feel like we're focusing on the recent property damage and not the final sentence about abusing his ex, which is missing the point. A celebrity getting pissed about pictures being taken... eh, I can see where they might get frustrated at times. Telling his wife "you're lucky I didn't kill you" = asshole. Asshole. I'm extremely disappointed to hear this.

We talked about that a while ago. I think the general conclusion was that because it was allegations in a divorce proceeding and absolutely nothing else, it was concerning but not conclusive.

Ah. I missed that conversation... but I remain skeptical.
