Are you having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? Different advice for each. I take Rx Trazadone to help with staying asleep until I can get through my sleep issues. No day-after hangover so it's a "light" sleep aid for me. Sleep issues suck. I'm sorry.
Staying asleep. I suffered from insomnia when I was a kid, and then again during the pregnancy. I think my anxiety is high (although for a different reason now). And now that I type this out, it probably makes more sense for me to see someone.
As a short-term crutch, I would try melatonin to help fall asleep and Benadryl to help stay asleep. But agree you should probably talk to someone. I'm sorry you're gong through this.

Maybe try Tylenol PM (or the sleep aid portion without the Tylenol if you aren't sore) until you can see your doctor for something better. I'm sorry you're going though this Mel .
When it's not, Lunesta is my savior. Ambien didn't even touch my insomnia when my anxiety was out of control Try unisom tonight and if you don't sleep call your dr tomorrow and get in immediately. Not sleeping really fucks with you. I'm sorry

First google "sleep hygiene" and make sure you're doing all those things. Try zzzquil. It's like Tylenol pm but without the pain reliever. Also, I find that reading before bed really helps. My Dr refused to prescribe anything for sleep until I tried all these things first.
I've been having sleep issues myself. I wake up after a few hours of sleeping and can't get back to sleep for another two hours. Just recently I've been taking the Kroger Sleep-aid Soft Gels. It has diphenhydramine in it. It's been very helpful. I'll go off of it eventually though.
Elsa, I'm curious, does Lunesta make you sleep walk?

No....but by the time I take it I am so exhausted that I think I just pass out :/
Ambien didn't make me do anything weird either so maybe I'm just not inclined to?
Unisom helps me-I took it a lot when my anxiety was high. Now that I'm on anxiety meds, I can get to sleep fine without the Unisom but wake up at 3am like clockwork. Ugh.
I took a whole one last night, and I made it until 4 am, so I'll count that as a success.
I have this week off, so I'm hoping that I can catch up on sleep (D goes back to daycare), and I hope the time alone helps me heal a little.
Do you have an anxiety emergency med like Xanax? I wonder if that might help, if you are waking and staying awake because of anxiety. If you don't, call your dr. It wouldn't be out of line for you to ask for something like that, especially with what's going on.
