DS is 10 months. He hasn't wanted bottles the last couple of days. He loves to eat real food. I can get formula into him easily by mixing it into a pouch.
I feel sort of lost about how to make sure he's getting adequate nutrition since he doesn't seem to want bottles. I can do pouches for meals and mix in formula, but I don't really want to just feed him purees. On the flip side, I don't know how much he needs to eat if I'm giving finger foods. And what's the right mix of foods to give him?
I don't think I'm a fan of this in between stage with food.
have you tried offering the formula before the real food so he will take it when he is really hungry? And use the food as "dessert"?
Formula in a sippy?
He hasn't really gotten the hang of sippy cups yet. We're working on it.
Today, he refused to take a bottle even though it had been about 4 hours since he had last eaten. I tried a sippy as well, no dice. I ended up giving him a pouch of sweet potato with 2.5 scoops of formula and some oatmeal mixed in. He gulped it down along with a ton of puffs.
I do think he would have taken it eventually, but he was so cranky and hungry that I didn't want to try to wait him out.
We are in a similar stage. We pretty much have a bottle at the ready at all times and he drinks an ounce at a time every 10 minutes or so over the course of an hour. He rarely drinks a whole one in one sitting any more.
I am giving him more yogurt and cheese to supplement the lost dairy.
