So we started pt ds in November, he has pee down and as of last month he had poop down with an occasional accident. Well this week he is having a regression with poop only and we let daycare know. We sent him with extra undies and pants (they send dirty stuff home) and figured we would stay consistent and positive. Also we provide m&ms for rewards at school. Well the teacher yesterday complained to h at pick up and suggested diapers (wtf) and h was like no to diapers we think it's just a regression try m&ms blah blah. Today, he had some accidents but plenty of underwear and pants left (and they keep pull ups on hand which we also said we are ok with) and he got sent home in a fucking diaper!!!! Rage!!!!!! Really?! After all the hard work and our expressing that we did not want a diaper but a pull up is ok, really?!?!
I'm so mad but I mustered up a calm polite email to the director. This is his school that's closing so I feel like they are half assing stuff. On a side note the school got bought and they're keeping the staff but we won't be re enrolling. Ugh. Thanks for listening. Virtual chocolate chip cookie
Yeah, that's so odd to me; I mean, wouldn't a pull-up be easier? It's almost like they were trying to make a point, which is pretty rage-inducing.
This exactly. It is one teacher that seems so disgruntled. I get it, I do, but why take it out on us? A pull up would have been easier and still gotten the job done so I reiterated to the director in my email that I was still ok with that as communicated to everyone. Ugh!!
Rage worthy. I would have sent a strongly worded email asking for an explanation as to why dh's instructions were completely disregarded.
Yes! In my email, I indicated that we had brought in a bag of extra pants and underwear, let her know that we told the teachers he was having a regression this week but that we were trying to stay positive and consistent and we said pull ups were ok. Also, since I was already furious I let her know that our rewards system (m&ms) was being completely ignored (I found he bag of candy untouched shoved in the back of his cubby). It's so upsetting because he was doing really well too and h said when he picked him up yesterday in the diaper, ds put his head down like he was ashamed when the teacher commented he had accidents it kills me that he was made to feel bad. We try to be breezy about it since potty stuff is hard and he's not even 3 yet. The silver lining is his new school has good potty support and I dropped off his paperwork yesterday and let them know we had a set back, and they said they will work on it.
That really sucks. I would be so angry because they're failing your kid. And their whole job is the exact opposite!
I also don't get why they're staying open as a daycare but not re enrolling? That seems weird.
Exactly!
The initial plan was they were just closing. But a week or so ago we found out they got bought, will be closed over the summer and they are taking apps for the fall because the plan is to reopen under new owner after remodel and carry on as it did. It is also my understanding they want to keep the same staff.
You would think they would want to keep everyone happy to encourage renrollment? No? Such a let down.
A bit of an update, the director called me this morning and apologized and said they will get on the same page. That's good but the damage is done for me. Ds starts his new school March 1. Can't come soon enough.

That sucks, and the image of him in a diaper feeling all sad and ashamed is heartbreaking. I'm glad the director reached out to you, but yeah, good riddance. Hopefully the next few weeks go quick and are uneventful.

You would think, but if they get all new clients they can raise prices
