I have some Stride Rite sneakers, water shoes and Brown SKR Masons that aren't really summery in the next size up that I'm thinking he will be wearing by summer.
I'm thinking of getting him the following: Natives Boat Shoes Maybe another pair of sneakers?
C's instep is too high for Keens now, unfortunately. I grabbed some Natives a few months back when they were on clearance for like $10 and tried them on him this weekend--he loves them.

He lived in Keens the past two summers but this year I got a pair of the waterproof sandal sneaker like shoes from See Kai Run when they were on clearance. We will see how those work. I am prepared to buy some emergency Keens if they don't work. Other then that he has some sneakers from See Kai Run and I will get the Native knock offs from Old Navy for the pool.

Last summer, I had Keens, SR sneakers, canvas Sperry boat shoes, and these Sperry sneakers for DS. He also had a pair of brown leather fisherman sandals from SR that were really cute for nicer outfits. I'm waiting to buy for this summer due to his fast growing feet and will add a pair of Natives based on recommendations here.

We did Natives last summer and I already have the same thing purchased for this summer. I love that they can be worn without socks, I can spray or wipe them down if they get dirty (mr clean magic eraser does a great job getting scuffs off), and he can wear them to play in water if he needs to.
I did the ON natives and also bought a pair of sandals online from Carter's. If they don't work I'll return them. I plan to also get a cheapy pair of sandals from walmart or somewhere. DS HATES wearing socks so I don't plan to invest in sneakers.
I only have one pair of shoes for DS each season for every day wear, plus a pair of season/weather-specific shoes like snow boots or rain boots or water shoes for the sprinklers at the playground. Right now, he has a pair of See Kai Run for every day wear and we'll probably get a similar pair for summer.
