I think I'm getting a cold sore. I never get them.

Why is this happening? ARGH! I never get cold sores and was very happy about that. Yesterday and today I have had a weird tingling area on my lip and am pretty sure it's going to be a cold sore. MIL and my mom get them. WTF??

What do I do? Ick.

I don't get them but my friend swears by abreva-it can be purchased at a drug store. It's pricey but she swears it cuts down the duration. Hth!

DH gets them. Abreva helps tremendously

J/k, cold sores are the herpes simplex virus, and something like 99% of the population has it, and it is passed through contact, so if you kissed someone even like cheek kiss you could get it from them. I'm prone to them, and if I use a new face cream or often when I wax my upper lip or do anything that irritates that area I get them.

Ugh I just had one on the corner of my lip in the little crease. It really sucked, but after about a week it's finally gone.

Abreva. Cold sores suck, but this stuff helps. I started getting them after my son accidentally slammed my lip with a door--seems like an injury can also bring them to the surface :/

Abreva stat. It's $20 but works. The other otc meds for $10/$15 do nothing. Get only Abreva.

Do you get canker sores? I'm really prone to them, and I sometimes even get one on my lip. I know it's not a cold sore because it never gets red or blistery, etc. Keeping my lips really moisturized seems to help. Good luck!

@leftie22, not usually! Once in awhile I get one inside my mouth, but maybe just once or twice a year.
