That's so frustrating! Can I pile on? This morning DS's daycare teacher mentions at dropoff how "R was in SUCH a good mood yesterday. Everything we said to him, he would just smile and smile." Ummm cool. When I got home he slept from 5:30-8:00 and then was a major grumpus from 8-9 during his bedtime routine. Glad he was fun for you, though.
I have the same issue and it makes me so mad. All classes in our area for 2 year old are weekday mornings. I could get on my rant about this but I wont
This is an extremely frustrating problem. I finally found a gymnastics studio that had 9am classes and after 6 months we decided to take a break because it sucked getting out of the house that early on Saturday week after week.
This kind of shit royally pisses me off. There is a Hike It Baby group in my area that is really active and I would like to get involved but EVERYTHING they do is during the week in the middle of the day. I see red every time someone posts a new hike or get together and it's at 10 AM on Wednesday. Working moms want to get out and do things too! God damn it.

Add to that all the library story times and playgroups are also only during the week day.
And if you haven't found it yet, around here all the pedi dentists will ONLY schedule non-school aged kids during the school day, to free up the schedule for the older kids. I was so fucking pissed when I realized they expected me to take time off work so that they don't have to inconvenience kids in school. And I tried to change dentists, but all 4 I called that are within 30 minutes of us have the same freaking policy.
It's the same way in my town and drives me crazy. There are a ton of really cool classes during the week (none of which my kids will ever be able to go to). Especially during the summer when there are nature camps, etc.
Same problem here. I hate it, and the few classes they offer on weekends fill up immediately.
I'm also irritated that all the good indoor play places in my city are only open for free play on the weekdays and closed for private parties on the weekends.
I feel you on this. When DS was a baby we did TLG at 5:45 on Tuesdays, that was the only option. I've been looking in advance at things I could do for DD when she is a bigger and I can't find a thing.
I have a coworker that scheduled her lunch break to take her daughter to ballet 2x a week. She literally picks her up from daycare, does ballet, drops her back off, and goes back to work. All because there are no Working mom friendly classes.

I am weird in that I do not like weekend activities. I am all about getting it done during the week since weeknights are chaos anyway--might as well add a 6 or 6:30 activity to the mess! So my pet peeve is when they have evening activities that start at 4:30 or 5, because its basically impossible for us to do those ones unless I use personal time to leave work early.

Yes, this too! Little kid gymnastics is at 4:00 here. I have a feeling this is the direction my daughter will go and I have no idea how we would make this work. Lolz she is 7 months old.

At this point I consider daycare/preschool "sufficient" in terms of providing enriching content and programming. DD1 is 2. We do music class on Saturday's but that is it. I love not having many plans on the weekend though.

Yeah, I don't need to enrich her life -- I agree that daycare is sufficient for us too at this age. I need a reason to get out of the house and do something fun, that isn't wandering the mall, lol.
Good point! Not sure if you all are interested in Music classes but we LOVE The Music Class if you have one local. It is all dependent upon the teacher.

I totally understand how that is annoying with having younger kids and taking time off work. Believe me, I know what that is like. But I think that is a great policy. My DS is having to miss two half days of school for specialists appointments (close to a half day each with the drive time) and I would love to have the option of evening appointments so he didn't have to miss school, which is a far bigger deal than missing preschool or daycare.
I would LOVE to open up a children's play place, that caters to working moms and has plenty of evening programs and weekend programs, because this shit pisses me off more than anything.
Especially when people are all "but weekends are for family time!"
I guess I wonder why places don't have more Saturday classes - have they tried & don't get filled? Do they get enough business during the week that they don't need/want Saturday stuff? Do they have trouble getting instructors? Or are they just stuck in sahm is the norm mode?
I don't think we live in a super high sahp town, but pretty much all of the weekday daytime dance classes, library story times, etc are pretty full and sometimes packed.
But we hate Saturday classes, too, because it locks us in. I'd rather do the zoo or different outing I guess. And since I am home and my kids go to bed early I hate that most evening stuff starts way too late.
It would be nice if there was something for everyone.

I agree, it's really frustrating. There are usually limited evening options during the week but we've found that M is usually so exhausted after daycare that he just needs chill time at home during the week.
We have the same issue. Basically anything offered for a 3 year old around here is during regular working hours. It pisses me the fuck off.
ditto this... Unless I want to be two city's over at 8am on a Saturday, nothing is available
I did have him in a tumbling class last winter on tuesday nights, but we got out of class 15 minutes away from the house at bed time... it was a disaster every week to either keep him awake for the car ride so we could do bath/jammies when we got home, or pray that his cat nap didn't affect bedtime (it usually did).
I absolutely understand. SO many things are during the work week. While I don't work Mondays, that seems to not be a popular day for classes and such around here. Or maybe it's just the classes I think/know AJ would like, I'm not sure. We're in a weird area where we're not technically residents of the suburb our school district is in, nor are we technically residents of the suburb our address is in so doing lessons for anything through either suburb's rec center requires us to sign up under nonresident registration and things are always full by the time that rolls around because it's lowest on the priority scale. So I basically pull shenanigans and have AJ do any classes (which so far is just two sessions of swim lessons) at the rec center my parents belong to(20 minutes from me), because my dad signs AJ up for classes under their name. I don't like doing it, but with needing a weekend day and a later morning time (because like you, I have a late sleeper) it's been necessary. It sucks.
ETA: I'm hoping as AJ gets older and his wakeup time continues to trend earlier, the options for Saturday classes closer to home open up some more.

I know it's unpopular but I don't get the hate in weekday toddler and baby classes. Presumably your kids get that stuff at daycare or with a baby. I always saw them as ways for SAHP's to get out and socialize.
But maybe it's had no desire to do extra scheduled stuff with my kids at that age! We all just wanted to stay home after being out of the house 50+ hours/week.
ETA: also those time slots are often used for school aged kids

Lead a hike! Anyone can put a hike on the schedule. Pick a park and add it to the calendar
We have weekend class options but you have to act FAST around here to get a spot. I've become that annoying parent that refreshes the screen until the "register" thing goes live (I'm speaking for his music class which does online registration). I hate that I've become that parent, but the class has literally sold out in 3 minutes and it's the time that works the best for us (9:30am on Saturday mornings).
We are close enough to the city that we don't seem to have this problem. DH does take her to MyGym on Tuesday mornings, but Saturday works as a backup. She does music & swim on the weekends though. Yes, we are schedulers, but all love to get out of the house
