I'm reading Some Buried Caesar. My mother is a huge fan of Rex Stout/Nero Wolfe and I want to be able to share the books with her. I'm enjoying this one, because Wolfe is out of his comfort zone. Wolfe as a character annoys the heck out of me, but I love the supporting characters in the books. And they are well-written and well-crafted mysteries. I'm really surprised at how well they stand the test of time. This one was initially copyright 1938, and it doesn't read dated to me, in the way that some other books do.
QOTW: This is a very hard question to answer, as there are so many good book-to-movie adaptations. But I think my favorite is honestly the Hallmark Hall of Fame production of Sarah, Plain and Tall, which was very well done and so much better than the book.
I'm reading A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab. It's really good, lots of cool magic,, although I wish I could remember the first book better (A Darker Shade of Magic -- if anyone here has read it, can you PM and tell me what Holland's story is at the end?)
QOTW: Sense and Sensibility, although I like most Austen adaptations.
I just started The Girl in the Spider's Web last night so it's too early to tell if I like it. We just got back from a vacation where I managed to finally finish the second half of a book that I had been reading for months and then 2 more books. It was so nice to actually have time to devote to reading!
QOTW: The Godfather is the first thing that comes to mind but I saw the movie several times before I read the book so I may be biased.

I'm reading Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally read it! I'm not very far into it, but I'm really liking it.
QOTW: I don't really know since I tend to not enjoy book-to-movies. Maybe The Help or maybe Chronicles of Narnia Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe?

I'm doing a reading challenge this year and this might be one I decide to reread! I need something I haven't read since childhood and I totally forgot about this book.

I'm reading "Secret Sisters" (Jayne Ann Krentz) ... my first loan from my new library. Well, to be clear, the library has been there for years. I moved last fall and only just made it to the library last week. I should finish it tonight and I hope to return it and pick up "All the Light You Cannot See," which I was waitlisted for and has come in.
QOTW: Hmmm, this is a tough one. Going old school, I love "Auntie Mame" with Rosalind Russell. It's as wonderfully zany as the original book. More recently, I think The Princess Bride did a wonderful job of staying faithful to much of the book as well as the tone of the book.
Geez, I just realized how old that movie is and I guess I can't call it "recent"! Crap, I'm old.
Still reading Throne of Glass (finally getting close to the end) and listening to The Shining, which I had never actually read before (have seen the movie).
QOTW: Maybe Jurassic Park? Really well done movie even though it deviates from the book.
I also loved Kenneth Branaugh's Much Ado About Nothing, but I'm not sure if that's fair since it's a play, not a book.
I finished the Chaparone and just started Shadowy Horses. So far, so good.
Dances with Wolves was one of the best book to movie adaptations I've seen. (Unless it was the other way around and I didn't know it!). I think the Outlander series has been very well done as well.

I love Auntie Mame -- as a book and a movie! I am so glad Whoopi Goldberg has shelved her plans to remake it (with her in the title role); she'd be a good Mame, but Rosalind Russell is so iconic that it would be hard to live up to that performance. Lucille Ball did a horrible job in the musical. if you haven't seen it, DON'T.
I'm reading Major Pettigrew's Last Stand. I like it so far. I'm listening to South of Broad by Pat Conroy. So well written, and the audio production is excellent.
I'm almost finished with The Luckiest Girl Alive. I didn't know anything about it, except I had seen it recommended, it really went in a direction I was not expecting.
