We are going to Wdw in Sept and will have four full days with park hoppers. My kids will be five. Obviously we would try to spend more time at MK but how should I split up the other three parks?

At that age I think HS could be a half day (or skip completely).
I would plan for a full day at AK but I know some like to make it a half day. Unsure how ROL will impact people's touring. I assume it will keep more people in the park later.
Do you want to see any of the evening shows? What are some of you must do attractions?
If I was going right now with 4 days I'd do 1.5-2 in mk, 1-1.5 in Epcot and 1 in ak, skipping ds.
Another way to do it is do rope drop at each park, see how far you get by rest time, and base the afternoon/evening park on the night shows and what you didn't finish.
I haven't been to Disney in 25 years at least so I don't know what our priorities are! Lol going to rope drop probably won't happen as we are very slow to get moving in the mornings when on vacation but they will be up for staying up later at the parks I think. We will have to see how they do. We are also going on the cruise at the end so I'm not so sure about making meeting characters a priority like A&E since we can see them easier on the ship. I will consider skipping HS for sure it just doing a half day there. Is that where the Star Wars stuff will be? I think DH/DS would be into that.
If characters are more accessible on the ship, I'd skip them. Yes, the Star Wars stuff is at the studios.
I would try to at least get to rope drop at the mk if you can. To start in & of itself it's an attraction, but it can also be the world of difference to get back to fantasyland ASAP.
